Kevin Gregg Traded to Chicago Cubs: End of Kerry Wood Era?

Tab BamfordSenior Writer INovember 13, 2008

With Kerry Wood set to test free agency—who finished in the top five in the National League in saves—in less than 12 hours, the Chicago Cubs have traded pitching prospect Jose Ceda to the Florida Marlins for their closer, Kevin Gregg.

Reports on multiple radio stations in Chicago, as well as ESPN's Buster Olney, have reported the trade. Gregg saved 29 games last season while going 7-8 with a 3.41 ERA. He blew nine saves in 2008.

What does this mean to the Cubs' future bullpen plans? Only the next month of trading and signing will tell us.
