Week 2 of the preseason brings us a matchup of two teams that always have a lot of potential going into the season, and the expectations are always high. For the Dallas Cowboys the expectation is always the Super Bowl. It may not always be realistic, but that is the standard the organization holds themselves to. The San Diego Chargers have been a great team that just can't get over the hump. They also hold the expectation of the Super Bowl.

Philip Rivers is arguably one of the best quarterbacks in football, despite not having a whole lot of firepower to work with. His receiving corp. has generally been in the bottom half of the league, and since the departure of LaDainian Tomlinson the running game has been inconsistent. Building up reps with the offense as well as getting a good rhythm is going to be an important aspect of this game for the Chargers first team.

The Cowboys are coming off a very disappointing year, so they need to find a way to rebound. Quarterback Tony Romo needs a bounce-back season as well, but thankfully he has a pretty potent offense around him to help lead that charge.

Every good snap that Romo and the offense can get will be useful in turning the ship around, so even though this is just a preseason matchup it still is extremely important for the Cowboys.

What They're Saying

Nick Canepa of Sign on San Diego is hoping that 2010 will be a wake-up call for the franchise. The Chargers are notorious for starting their seasons slow, but last year they got way behind the eight-ball and ended up missing the playoffs for the first time since 2005. Canepa is hoping they will learn there lesson and come out crisp.

Dan Graziano of ESPN writes about the Cowboys wide receiver situation, and how while most teams would worry about not having a qualified No. 3 wide receiver, the Cowboys plenty of other options. Kevin Ogletree is third on the depth chart behind Miles Austin and Dez Bryant, but Dallas also has Jason Witten at tight end and Felix Jones out of the backfield. The talent around Romo allows Dallas some breathing room at receiver.

What's Worth Watching

Anytime you get to see Philip Rivers take a few snaps, I would suggest that you tune in and soak it up. He is one of the more physically imposing quarterbacks in the league, and he really knows how to fill up the stat-line. It will be interesting to see if he can lead the Chargers back this season.

Dallas is a team that many are hoping will be good, but they have to do a lot to prove themselves and get back on track. I will be interested to watch the first team offense and whatever snaps they get to see how well they gel together. They have the potential to be explosive.

Biggest Storyline

Watching the Cowboys offense, even for just a drive or two, will be well worth tuning in for. Tony Romo really took a step back from prominence last season, but many think that he still has what it takes to be one of the best. He has a good supporting cast around him, so there is no reason for him not to succeed. Dallas' offense could be really explosive if they put it all together.
