MLB Tells Washington Nationals Not To Wear Military Tribute Hats
As I was reading the sports pages on Yahoo! today, I came across the story about the Nats and their wonderful idea for a tribute to our armed forces, wearing military themed hats for one game. Not that I don't trust Yahoo's ThePostGame but for a different perspective I also read an article about it on the Washington Post. Both stories were pretty much the same. The Nationals wanted a tribute and MLB didn't.
I normally will not even comment on military stories. This is not because of any disrespect, but because not having been a member, I feel I have no right to say much of anything about our armed forces other than to offer my thanks. I am grateful that we have such people not only protecting our freedom, but also representing us around the world with professionalism, honor and most of all, courage.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Courage is quite a thing, and it takes many forms. Unfortunately, MLB has none, not even a crumb after selling their souls to marketing. The official story is that hats are reserved for "coordinated national events." I believe MLB put the squeeze on the Nats because there was no sponsor involved and no money to change hands.
Who was courageous this time? Was it whatever person stood up to the Nationals to protect the company who made the hats that wouldn't be on the field during this one game? No, it sure wasn't. Was it the Nationals for standing firm in their support of our military and going through with the tribute no matter what MLB decided? No, I don't think so.
From Bud Selig on down, MLB should be ashamed of such an arbitrary, ill intentioned decision. I don't want to believe that whoever made the final call did so with a clean conscience. It seems the only ones left who have the courage to defend what is right and proper are the ones who can't be thanked publicly by a single team in our nation's capital. We, as Americans, should be embarrassed that this silly dispute happened at all. I know I am.
