Top Five One-Loss Wonders of College Football
To no one’s surprise, the BCS is highly entertaining and controversial once again. While there are two legitimate undefeated teams in contention for the BCS National Title in Alabama and Texas Tech, there are also quite a few one-loss teams that are ready to make a vicious run at the big game.
1. Florida
To this point, the Gators are sticking their heel on every team’s throat without letting them take a breath. Georgia, LSU, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt are all feeling the wrath of a determined Tim Tebow, who is set on redeeming his loss to Ole Miss. The Gators are averaging over 56 points a game in the last five matchups with a defense that is allowing barely over 11 points.
The number one team in the country, the Alabama Crimson Tide, better be more than ready in the SEC Championship game, because Urban Meyer’s team is steamrolling any and all opposition.
2. Texas
Aside from giving up a last-second touchdown on Texas Tech’s Graham Harrell pass to receiver Michael Crabtree in their only loss, the Longhorns are almost perfect on the season.
Colt McCoy has been lights out with a 78 percent completion percentage, while the defense has a new tenacious vibe brought about from the acquisition of defensive coordinator Will Muschamp from Auburn.
