WWE News: Could CM Punk Lead an ROH Invasion Against Triple H and Co.?

Tom Urtz Jr.May 31, 2018

This week's Monday Night Raw got me thinking. It featured CM Punk on the mic sparring with Kevin Nash about what is or isn't good for business.

Shortly after that exchange, we saw an excellent tag team matching featuring Kofi Kingston and Evan Bourne vs. the tag team champions, Otunga and McGillicutty.

The back and forth action kept me interested and entertained. The recent featuring of tag teams got me thinking about some of the moves WWE has made and how they can be properly implemented with the help of CM Punk.

WWE has attempted to sign many tag teams to help bolster the tag team division. One of these tag teams is the Kings of Wrestling. This team is made up of friends of CM Punk, Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli.

This is a tag team that has had some great matches in ROH and would bring some spark and excitement to the tag team division. Rumor has it that the "Kings" will bypass the developmental system and will make their debut straight on the main roster.

Enter CM Punk and Seth Rollins, aka Tyler Black. Tyler Black was signed by WWE a few months back and has yet to appear on the main roster. The way that creative is building this feud, signs are pointing to this involving many individuals.

For all intensive purposes, it is safe to assume that Kevin Nash, John Laurinits and multiple others were involved with what went down with CM Punk at Summerslam.

If it is revealed to be this big stable or faction of people, Punk will look for some back up. Rollins and the Kings could then emerge to defend Punk, and in turn, could gain some publicity and prestige. Make no mistake, The Kings and Tyler Black are damn good wrestlers and have had many great matches.

Many seem to discount ROH as one of the big wrestling companies in existence. ROH has turned out stars like Samoa Joe, Daniel Bryan, AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, CM Punk, Mickie James, and etc. The list is endless.

It seems that nowadays whenever WWE adds talents from other companies, they are used to job and puff up the status of mid carders. The most recent example was NXT winner Kaval, who has since returned to his moniker Low-Ki in the indecent circuit.

WWE has a great opportunity to use CM Punk to help promote some of these "new stars." They could attempt to do for them what they tried doing when they paired Hawkins and Ryder with Edge.

I can already picture CM Punk cutting a promo claiming he has friends that are going to come help him.

The next thing that happens is some entrance music hits, and on stage is CM Punk and his band of ROH Brothers. He could then cut a promo stating that he may not have the WWE title, but with his help, he will change the balance of power in WWE.

I can then picture The Kings of Wrestling winning the tag team titles and Tyler Black winning the United States Title all with the help of CM Punk. This could then send a message to WWE, and they, in turn, would have to respond.

Faction warfare when executed properly can make for some must see TV. I would hate to see WWE drop the ball with the current situation they have going for them.

In these early stages, this is all speculation on my part. There are many different ways WWE could build this feud. If they developed a storyline along these lines, they could conceivably kill multiple birds with a single stone.

WWE can buildup and showcase The Kings to prove to other teams like Beer Money and Generation Me that it would be worth their while to defect to WWE. In turn, WWE would have a very good tag team division that would be worth watching again.

WWE would also make the CM Punk vs Nash and Co. more exciting to watch by involving multiple wrestlers and on screen characters. Lastly, they could finally debut Seth Rollins and interject him to the roster.

Just take a look at what Daniel Bryan has done so far. He was an ROH guy that has worked so far since returning to action from a year ago.

Wrestling is for the fans, and we have a voice. We want wrestling, and I feel this is a great way to air out some ideas.
