WWE: The Miz and the 15 Most Arrogant Wrestlers Currently in WWE
One of the more notable moments of Monday night's episode of RAW was The Miz coming out to the ring and taking a sandiwch away from Jared the Subway Guy.
The Miz claimed that he should be the Subway spokesperson and could sell more sandwiches simply by having Subway become a trending Twitter topic. The Miz did get the topic seen by some, but did not trend worldwide like WWE has done with other topics.
Regardless, this segment was yet another example of the arrogance that has made The Miz a top name in WWE today. Arrogance isn't exactly a rare thing with WWE as many of the larger-than-life superstars grow massive egos as walk around like a gift to sports entertainment.
Some have more of a reason to be arrogant than others, but it doesn't make up for some of the more ridiculous self-absorbed moments from the current generation.
Among the current WWE roster, here are the 15 most pompous wrestlers, ranked on their ability to annoy us all with their egos and have the skill to back it up.
15) Curt Hawkins
1 of 15Why not start this party with the Partystarter himself, Curt Hawkins.
If you have ever watched some of his matches, which I hope that you do, you know Hawkins is very arrogant throughout. From his nonchalant entrance into the ring to his careless disregard for his opponents, Hawkins rolls to his own beat.
It may be that reason that Hawkins hasn't translated into a successful singles competitor. He has the skill and the charisma, but may just be lacking in the opportunity. It is hard to say if Hawkins will get that chance, but his arrogance is something that can't be debated.
14) Tyson Kidd
2 of 15Tyson Kidd fits a similar mold to Hawkins. Kidd is a very athletic competitor and has the arrogance on top of it, but is yet to see the chances pile up for him. Kidd will brag a lot about being the last graduate of the Hart Dungeon, but that hasn't gotten him much more than a tag team championship reign.
His short-lived storyline of trying out managers had multiple people come out padding his ego, but they all ended up walking away.
Now, Kidd is all alone, but is doing pretty good for himself as a pro on NXT Redemption. It is the only place where you are almost guaranteed to see Kidd on a daily basis, which is a pretty good deal.
13) Beth Phoenix
3 of 15The Glamazon has let her arrogance show through in recent weeks, but has always been able to back it up.
Phoenix is one of the strongest and most beautiful Divas in WWE today. She is a lethal combination of looks to kill and moves that can do the same job. Phoenix has been seen on her Twitter account in recent weeks attaching the term "Pin-Up Strong" to herself and Natalya.
That term just about sums it up.
12) Ted DiBiase
4 of 15If you were the son of a Hall of Famer and walked around with a lot of money, you would be arrogant too.
Ted DiBiase hasn't quite had the singles career that some have hoped that he would have had, but DiBiase won't let that bother him. He's rich, young, and has one of the best dropkicks in wrestling today.
His microphone skills aren't quite what his legendary father had, but remember that his father hadn't won a world title in his career either.
11) David Otunga
5 of 15From his debut on NXT, David Otunga has told you how he is an A-lister. Otunga is engaged to singer Jennifer Hudson and has been on the red carpet since before he appeared on NXT.
Otunga also went to Columbia and Harvard Law School. Otunga can actually practice law in the state of Illinois, should he choose to do so.
For now, Otunga is a two-time tag team champion and is still getting better. His charisma is a lot better than his in-ring ability, which will get better with time. For now, Otunga is the definition of all arrogance and no substance.
10) Bella Twins
6 of 15I won't talk about one over the other, but rather combine the two together.
Then again, it isn't like one of these twins could truly stand alone in WWE. Even when Brie was Divas Champion, Nikki was right alongside of her. Combined, the duo were running the Divas division for the last few months.
The Bellas have been quick to point out flaws in others, much like Lay-Cool had done for a while before. The Bellas are great to look at, but they seem to think they are more gorgeous than we do.
9) Wade Barrett
7 of 15Barrett has a lot of reasons to be full of himself. He was the first NXT winner, led two factions, and put on great matches with the likes of John Cena and Randy Orton.
Despite not actually getting over the hump just yet, Barrett is a bright star in the future. The skills in the ring and on the mic are already there and just need a little bit of fine tuning. Don't be shocked to see Barrett as a world champion in the next year.
If he works as hard as he brags, Barrett can get the job done.
8) Maryse
8 of 15Maryse has been very into herself for a couple of years now. The French-Canadian Diva has always been about material possessions, caring mostly about her clothes and jewelry.
As far as her career goes, she has already had one that would be good enough for some. Maryse's two reigns as Divas Champion put her atop the list of most days with the belt.
Her first reign, which lasted 216 days, is not only the longest reign with that title, but is also one day shy of tying the longest women's championship reign in WWE in the last five years.
Without wrestling much anymore, Maryse seems to be content with wanting nice clothes and handbags from male courters.
7) Jack Swagger
9 of 15Jack Swagger is very patriotic, in case you didn't know. He's so patriotic that he has to say the word "American" twice in his nickname. Americans are often associated with being arrogant and Swagger seems to be the stereotype.
Swagger's list of accomplishments outside of the ring are an impressive collection of accolades. As far as inside the ring, Swagger is already a former World Heavyweight Champion and is still just 29.
Swagger's arrogance shows in the ring as well. How many other WWE wrestlers today do push-ups to mock their opponent? His victory lap around the ring may seem stupid, but if you were as awesome as Swagger thinks he is, you would do a few laps too.
6) Mark Henry
10 of 15Mark Henry has been a great worker for WWE for a lot of years. In recent years, Henry had been a crowd favorite and would often have a smile on his face. That smile disappeared a few months ago and Smackdown has not been the same since.
Henry throws his weight around, often literally, and says or does what he pleases. Who would be able to stop him? Henry said in an interview backstage after being drafted to Smackdown that his goal was to be a world champion by the end of the year.
While nothing is official just yet, Henry might have to get that chance sooner or later. Otherwise, somebody's gonna get their... well, you know the rest.
5) Randy Orton
11 of 15Randy Orton has always been very arrogant and into himself.
After getting injured early in his career, Orton had a news segment called RNN, standing for the Randy News Network. Orton would interrupt episodes of RAW to let everyone know the progress on his injury. He would then join up with Evolution, arguably one of the strongest stables of all-time.
Orton would have his own stable called Legacy later in his career. Also factor in his nickname of The Legend Killer and his arrogant pose that he is known for.
Orton also has the ability to tell people how much he is going to hurt them and really does that to anyone he pleases. His RKO can come from anywhere and hit anyone. Orton certainly has a reason to be arrogant, but he is still self-centered enough to make this list.
4) Dolph Ziggler
12 of 15Gain a random and short-lived world title reign, have long reigns with mid-card gold, and have a third different gimmick that finally worked out. Some would call this Kane, but it is actually Dolph Ziggler. If you asked Ziggler himself, he would probably think about perfection.
A theme that was probably meant for Michael McGillicutty at first went to Ziggler, which stated the words "I am perfection". That part of this theme has stuck to Ziggler's gimmick and has led to Ziggler's first authentic shirt, which has that phrase on it.
If you have to tell us that you are perfection, even if you can prove that you are good, it is still a notion that you are one arrogant man.
3) CM Punk
13 of 15Arrogance doesn't quite sum up what CM Punk is or is about.
Punk pretty much says what he says with the idea that he is untouchable. Punk doesn't think that he is a regular superstar and that is pretty true. Instead, he has recently called himself the Voice of the Voiceless. Punk even left WWE just to come back after a lot of demands.
Upon his return, his New Nexus was written off almost randomly and Cult of Personality, his theme in Ring of Honor, was bought as his new theme.
There was also the stint with the Striaght Edge Society, where Punk used his real-life straight edge lifestyle to tell everyone how pure he was and how much better he was than everyone else.
2) The Miz
14 of 15In the time that we have all known The Miz, he has become more and more arrogant. The Miz once called himself a Chick Magnet. He then claimed he kept beating John Cena when Cena was too hurt to compete.
Around this time, Miz began to call himself "Awesome" and has adapted that ever since. A man that was once believed to be a bust, Miz has won many people over and was cheered as a heel WWE Champion by many.
Miz's arrogance has grown more in the last year. After becoming WWE Champion, Miz defended it in the main event of WrestleMania, defeating Cena. He would also change the title, turning the WWE logo upside down to make an "M" for Miz.
Miz still uses the upside down WWE logo and flips the cover on microphones to show that logo off in Miz's own way.
Recently, Miz has been seen as a salesman. He sold Paper Jamz when they were sponsoring way too many pay-per-views in a row. He is the face of the 7-11 commericals for the WWE cups. Now, he wants to sell Subway sandiwches.
I'm waiting for the day that The Miz steals Rick Martel's "Arrogance" sprayer and tries to sell that to people too.
1) Alberto Del Rio
15 of 15Of course Del Rio is number one here. Nobody embodies the idea of being arrogant more than the current WWE Champion. Del Rio has always shown off as a god among men, especially when he often belittles those men as dogs.
Del Rio wears his little cloth thing around his neck, comes to the ring in exotic cars worth six figures, and he has his own personal ring announcer. How many other people have had such lucrative aspects to his gimmick before even accomplishing anything?
Now that Del Rio is the WWE Champion and has already defended his championship this past Monday night, expect for the arrogance to grow from Del Rio.
