5 Problem Players Teams Would Be Better to Trade Now

Brian ShannonJun 7, 2018

Now that free agency and trades have started slowing down in the NFL, there are still a few players whose issues have yet to be resolved.

Some of these players have issues with their contract and on the field matters, while other players have had trouble off of the field that they need to rid themselves of.

All of the players on this list are very talented individuals and could net a good return for their team if they are willing to trade their problem player.

Here is a look at five problem players who teams would be better off trading now.

Osi Umenyiora

Umenyiora has made it known that he wants out of New York and so far the Giants have made that difficult for the disgruntled defensive end.

The 29-year-old still isn't happy but he is now practicing with the team and apparently ready to play football.

The Giants have had little trouble finding solid defensive ends to build their defense around so now is the time to give Umenyiora what he wants and that's a trade so that they can still get good value in return without having to pay for a hefty new deal.

Cortland Finnegan

Of all of the players in the league who could have actually used some MMA training during the lockout, Cortland Finnegan is the first that comes to mind.

The Titans corner loves picking fights and apparently losing them as Andre Johnson proved last season.

Tennessee has moved on from Vince Young at quarterback after bringing in two squeaky clean quarterbacks and now they should look to do the same on defense by ridding themselves of Finnegan.

Luckily for the Titans, Finnegan would actually net the team something if they were to trade their top corner.

Kenny Britt

3 of 5

I know it's shocking with the tight ship that they have been running as of late (with Albert Haynesworth as an alum and all), but yes, another member of the Tennessee Titans.

Kenny Britt has big-time ability, but he also caused big-time headaches for the Titans front office during the lockout with his run-ins with the law.

Britt has had seven run-ins in total since he the Titans selected him in the 2009 NFL Draft and if you ask me, that's seven too many.

Don't expect his behavior to change any time soon so the Titans would be smart to unload the receiver if given the chance.

Aqib Talib

Aqib Talib is also no stranger to run-ins with the law as he has been charged with aggravated assault with the use of a deadly weapon.

Just like Kenny Britt, Talib is a very talented player who hasn't been able to keep his head on straight since entering the NFL.

Tampa Bay's young team is looking to take another big step forward this season and they should aim to do so without their troubled corner.

Tim Tebow

5 of 5

The Broncos aren't going anywhere this season and that is one of the major reasons why they should have handed the keys to the car to Tim Tebow this season.

They decided differently however, choosing Kyle Orton instead to be the team's starting signal-caller.

Denver will always have Tebow hanging over their head until the actually make him the starter for an entire season and see what he can really do.

I think Orton will play well enough to keep his job and we could have a similar scenario next season which is why the Broncos should trade one of their quarterbacks now and since Tebow is the backup and could command a greater return, it might as well be him.
