WWE: The Matches We Need to See Now, Not Later
SummerSlam proved to be the rock concert it was promoted as an provided twists and turns that should keep us salivating toward the holiday months.
So much has been made over the last 72 hours of CM Punk and Kevin Nash, the new world champion and how John Cena was counted out when the pin fall should have been disallowed.
Such is the life of a well thought PPV event.
Now comes the fun stuff. Matches that should play off the PPV and help us better understand storylines and develop new feuds.
With all that happened last night and the questions that were never answered, we can probably expect a smoother ride on Smackdown Friday night.
Still, here are matches and rivalries that need to happen now!
Alberto Del Rio and John Cena
1 of 11"Your destiny is John Cena whipping your ass!"
After the comments made last night from Cena, we know that he wants people to keep fresh in their mind that he was a champion just 72 hours ago.
Cena was right when he said he could be pissed for various reasons about the events of Sunday night at SummerSlam.
And he is also right that Del Rio, although he was right to cash in his ticket for MITB is a "target" and not a "Champion".
Maybe Del Rio got "lucky". But Cena wants to make sure Del Rio's luck runs out.
CM Punk vs. Kevin Nash, Stephanie McMahon and Triple H
2 of 11You better throw Johnny Ace in there as well.
Whoever is lying (and I think it is probably safe to say Stephanie is in the middle of it) will face the wrath of Punk.
Nash and Punk is a fresh angle and having Triple H in the mix gives the fans what they want to see.
The feud sells itself.
Jack Swagger vs. Dolph Ziggler
3 of 11This feud does several things.
It makes Swagger relevant. It gives Vickie something to complain about. I causes a continued rift in her relationship with Ziggler. And it gives two good wrestlers a chance to fight each other.
Which side will the fans be on?
It could be a very good feud. And which one will win Vickie's affection?
Mark Henry vs. Randy Orton
4 of 11I love this match-up. Both men have major strengths and the destruction Henry has been doling out lately makes him the biggest mover in the brand recently.
Orton just recaptured gold from Christian. The question is since Henry put the Big Show and Kane out, can The Viper avoid injury from the World's Strongest Man?
Evan Bourne vs. Justin Gabriel
5 of 11While this is a match-up many may not have thought of, it makes sense.
Gabriel may wind up being a talent that exceeds expectations. As a singles competitor he needs to rely on his high flying skill.
Bourne is such a dynamic competitor and his mic skills are a little better.
They are a nice complement to each other.
Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase
6 of 11I saw this on several boards and I like it.
Does this mean DiBiase turns face?
Rhodes has been so good lately, he needs a real push and his former tag partner will do that for him.
Rhodes will be a world champion some day.
Sheamus vs. Wade Barrett
7 of 11I have wanted to see a feud like this for a bit.
Two big burly men to beat the hell out of each other. And now that Sheamus is a face, he matches up even better with the talents of Barrett.
This could be the step Barrett needs to reach world gold.
John Morrison vs. R-Truth
8 of 11We need this for a few reasons.
It is a great rivalry. Right now, neither will ascend to a world title match.
It is great action in the right with arguably two of the best out of the ring competitors.
And for Morrison, he needs Truth to push back up the ladder.
The Miz and Rey Mysterio
9 of 11They fought hard for the WWE Title. Let the feud continue.
The Miz sells better than most and Mysterio is one of the best in the business at making everything happen for a reason.
The two will fight at mid-card level but will rise to headline status.
Christian vs. Daniel Bryan
10 of 11It has the makings of a good feud.
Maybe the MITB contract comes into play.
Bryan needs to a tougher exterior. Christian needs a new challenge.
Maybe the both help each other rise to the top.
Stephanie McMahon vs Triple H
11 of 11Oh how I love to stir the pot.
McMahon is probably behind CM Punk being power bombed by Kevin Nash, leaving Triple H to take the heat.
Once a McMahon always a McMahon.
Triple H needs to have his own set of stones and if he was stabbed in the back by his wife, he needs to stand up for what is right with the WWE.
See Stephanie, people do always get what they deserve.
