Proving DeSean Jackson's Worth with His Top 5 TDs

Mick AkersJun 7, 2018

As DeSean Jackson ended his holdout last week, he still hasn't been offered a new contract by the Philadelphia Eagles, but he is expected to before the free-agency period rolls around next year.

Jackson's holdout is warranted, as he is making nothing near what he should be paid, but he made the right decision to end his holdout and not cause any internal problems heading into such a highly anticipated season for the Eagles.

Here are Jackson's top five touchdowns so far in his career, that should be evidence enough that Jackson's big-play ability is so important to the Eagles that they would be crazy not to break the bank for No. 10.

5. 72-Yard Punt Return for a TD vs. the New York Giants in 2009

1 of 5

Coaches don't want their special teams to kick the ball anywhere near DeSean Jackson, as he has the ability to break open a run from almost anywhere and take it to the house.

During the Philadelphia Eagles game against the New York Giants, Jackson took a punt that seemed to have no room to run out of and took it 72-yards down the field for a touchdown.

The Eagles went on to win the game 45-38.

Note: The punt return for a TD begins at the :30 second mark of the clip.

4. DeSean Jackson's 62-Yard Juggling TD Catch in the '09 NFC Championship Game

DeSean Jackson showed that his concentration level is as impressive as his speed, during a 62-yard juggling touchdown catch during the 2009 NFC Championship game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Although Jackson make the spectacular catch, it wasn't enough, as the Cardinals went on to win the game and the berth to the 2009 Super Bowl by a score of 35-25.

3. 88-Yard TD Catch on Monday Night Football Against the Washington Redskins

On the first play from scrimmage during the Philadelphia Eagles game against the Washington Redskins on Monday Night Football on November 15, 2010.

DeSean Jackson wasted little time that night giving the Redskins a headache, as Eagles quarterback Michael Vick connected with a perfectly timed bomb to Jackson, giving the Eagles an early lead they would keep the entire game, ending in a beat down 59-28.

2. 91-Yard Touchdown Catch vs. the Dallas Cowboys in December 2010

4 of 5

During the Philadelphia Eagles December 12th, 2010 game against the Dallas Cowboys, DeSean Jackson had a 91-yard catch and run play for a touchdown in the fourth quarter that ended up giving the Eagles the lead they would not relinquish winning the game 30-27.

Jackson caught the ball at the Eagles 20-yard-line and bolted down field an additional 71-yards stopping just before the goal line and falling backwards into the end zone, adding insult to injury after burning multiple Cowboys defenders down the field.

1. The Miracle at the Meadowlands 2

5 of 5

In what has become to be known as "The Miracle in the Meadowlands 2," DeSean Jackson capped off a 21-point-comeback-victory by scoring 28 points in the final 7:18 of the fourth quarter by the Philadelphia Eagles with a 65-yard punt return for a touchdown during their game against the New York Giants on December 19th, 2010.

The game-winning play almost didn't happen after Jackson initially fumbled the ball, but once he gained control of the ball it was all over. Jackson scampered down the field for the score, capping off what is to become one of the best plays in NFL history.

The play gave the the Eagles the ESPY for best game of 2010.
