Hampshire and Worcestershire boosted their survival chances, while Durham's title hopes suffered a dent in a rain-affected couple of games.

Durham remain on top on 185 points, but have now played at least a game more than everyone else in the division. Their latest match was a 50-run loss in a game reduced to one-innings per side, due to rain.

Hampshire batted first and declared on 275-7 on Day Three, with Neil McKenzie hitting 90. Callum Thorp picked-up 3-52 at Chester-le-Street.

Both sides then forfeited in an innings, leaving Durham needing 276 for victory.

The home side were bowled out for 225, despite Phil Mustard's 56, to lose by 50 runs. Dimitri Mascarenhas took 6-62 and Kabir Ali 3-69.

Hampshire's first victory of the season sees them remain at the bottom, but move on to 66 points after 11 games, still 36 points away from safety.

Worcestershire have 102 points after 11 games and have climbed out of the relegation zone, with a 34-run victory against Sussex in Horsham.

Moeen Ali made 71 and Daryl Michell made 66 in the visitors' first innings total of 290. James Anyon claimed 4-71 and Monty Panesar 3-75.

Sussex replied with 265 as Joe Gatting made 61 and Kirk Wernars made 53. Moeen Ali picked up 3-43, Saeed Ajmal 2-44 and Alan Richardson 2-57.

The away side posted 311 the second time around as Moeen Ali again top-scored with 68, and a last wicket partnership of 56 pushed up the total.

Monty Panesar was the pick of the bowlers with 4-101, while Luke Wells took 2-28.

Chasing a tough 337 for victory, Murray Goodwin's 122 and Michael Yardy's 63 almost got them there, but the home side were eventually dismissed for 302.

Saeed Ajmal claimed 6-124 and Richardson 4-54, as Worcestershire won by 34 runs.

Sussex are sixth after 12 games, one place above Worcestershire, on 123 points.

Lancashire are second after 12 games on 177 points. Somerset are third after 12 games on 171 points.

Fourth-placed Warwickshire have only played 11 games and have 168 points. Nottinghamshire are fifth on 134 points from 12 games.

Yorkshire have slipped into the relegation spots after 12 games on 98 points.

The next round of fixtures, starting on August 17, sees Somerset face Nottinghamshire, Yorkshire host Sussex and Lancashire play Worcestershire, with new-boy Kemar Roach. From August 18 Warwickshire welcome Hampshire.
