WWE SummerSlam Video: Watch Edge Return to Berate Christian

Adam WellsJun 5, 2018

WWE SummerSlam 2011 will be remembered for a few things. There were two surprise returns that caught everyone by surprise: Kevin Nash in the main event and Edge prior to the world title match between Christian and Randy Orton.

Edge and Christian were one of the best WWE tag teams of the last decade. Their work together in the early 2000s put them on the map and led to them becoming stars as singles wrestlers. It was only fitting that the two would be reunited at SummerSlam, because it was at this event in 2000 when they really took off.

Christian called out his former partner in crime and the two shared a warm embrace before Edge proceeded to verbally bash Christian for the way that he has acted in the four months since Edge retired.

Edge said that Christian has been hiding behind a bunch of lawyers and empty suits in order to win matches. He concluded by saying that Christian was acting like a "whining, crying, moaning little b**ch."

The promo was interesting because it seemed to turn the crowd against Edge. They didn't seem quite sure how to react to what they were hearing, at least until the end when they cheered loudly as Edge stormed away from his best friend.

One thing that I took away from this promo was it seemed like a way to turn Christian babyface again soon. He knows that his best friend hates the way he has been behaving, he won't be feuding with Orton for the title again and SmackDown needs another top babyface.

Christian has been good no matter what role he has been in, and with him not having to job to Orton anymore, he can finally start winning some matches clean again.

Edge is the spark that Christian needed to get back to his winning ways.
