UFC on Versus 5 Results: 5 Fights We Still Want to See Chris Lytle Take

Jeffrey McKinneyJun 1, 2018

Sunday night at UFC Live 5 Chris “Lights Out” Lytle submitted Dan Hardy in the third round of their war.

Despite never fighting for a UFC title, the Indianapolis firefighter holds the record for the most fight bonuses in UFC history, including the most Fight of the Night bonuses.

Although many will hate to see him go, you have to respect Lytle for leaving a sport where so many fighters fight way past their prime.

Instead of continuing to risk injuries, family life, and legacy, Lytle is leaving the sport he's been in for over 12 years to be more of a family man.

Because of his exciting brawling, leave it all in the cage style, many fans still want to see Lytle fight. Here are some fights that fans would still love to see.

Diego Sanchez

1 of 5

Whether you call him the nightmare, the dream or the vision, one thing you will never call Diego Sanchez is boring.

Sanchez has won four fight of the night bonuses thanks to wars with fighters like Clay Guida and Martin Kampmann.

Lytle and Sanchez are two guys that leave it all out in the cage and two guys that are hard to put out.

Sanchez is a guy that usually fights at a crazy pace and appears to be, well, crazy. Despite Lytle’s reckless boxing, he always seems calm.

Their clash of personalities and fighting styles would have made for a great story in the Octagon.

Martin Kampmann

2 of 5

Martin Kampmann is one of the more technical strikers in the welterweight division.

Kampmann made Diego Sanchez look unrecognizable in their fight at UFC Live 3, yet he still lost the fight.

Like Lytle, Kampmann is willing to stand with just about anybody.

It would be great to see whether Kampmann could maul Lytle with those precise had strikes or whether Lytle could win with his wild swinging hooks.

Carlos Condit

3 of 5

Condit and Lytle were supposed to meet at UFC 127. Condit however was forced to pull out of the fight with a leg injury.

Condit is a guy who knows how to finish a fight. Out of his 27 wins, only one has been by decision.

It would have been interesting to see a guy who finishes almost all of his opponents take on a guy who has never been stopped.

Although Lytle's fight with late replacement Brian Ebersole still won fight of the night, a fight with Condit could have possibly gone down as fight of the year.

BJ Penn

4 of 5

BJ Penn is one of the most accomplished fighters in UFC History.

A former lightweight and welterweight champion, Penn is very dangerous when he is motivated.

Like Lytle, Penn can either keep a fight standing or take it to the ground and submit guys. It would have been great to see how Lytle would have stacked up with the former champ.

This would have been another great test for Lytle as Penn has won most of his fights by knockout or submission.

Nick Diaz

5 of 5

Outside the cage Nick Diaz and Chris Lytle are polar opposites.

Lytle is seen as a family man and a classy fighter. Diaz on the other hand has been infamous for trash talk, smoking pot and being involved in the Nashville Brawl.

Inside the cage though, both men are very similar in their fighting styles. Both guys are just as dangerous on the ground as they are on their feet.

Both men also tend to take shots just as well as they can dish them out.

This match could have been a battle to see who would fall first.
