Arsenal Transfer Rumours: Shakhtar Donetsk Say Gunners' Jadson Interest is Real

Sky Sports reports that Shakhtar Donetsk manager Mircea Lucescu has offered confirmation of Arsenal's attempts to sign Brazilian playmaker Jadson.

The statements from Lucescu confuse an already muddled transfer period for Arsenal.  Lucescu's words contradict Arsene Wenger's previous declaration that the Gunners are not pursuing Jadson or Valencia ace Juan Mata.

Yesterday's stalemate in the Northeast clearly showed that Arsenal need more invention and guile if they are to mount a credible title challenge.

Arsene Wenger is on the brink of losing his two chief schemers in Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas.  The Gunners boss must find new ways for his team to convert their tidy, efficient possession into goals.

Jadson is certainly a player who could help orchestrate Arsenal's intricate, attacking play. The Donetsk talisman has the necessary vision and authority to provide Arsenal with the potency they missed on opening day.

Jadson would also be invaluable in providing support for Robin Van Persie. Too often yesterday Arsenal's midfield failed to supplement the Dutch striker.

Jadson specialises in well timed runs into the box and possesses a strong and crisp shot. He would be a useful link player for Van Persie.

Whether or not Arsenal are serious about pursuing a deal for Jadson remains to be seen. Wenger is notorious for playing his cards close to his chest.

The mood amongst Arsenal fans at the moment is not good to say the least. A marquee signing or two would help assuage anxieties and convince people that Arsenal are serious about pushing for significant trophies.

Donetsk indicate that the success of the deal is down to the wishes of Jadson. Look for some movement one way or the other, once Cesc Fabregas is officially confirmed as a Barcelona player.
