Ndamukong Suh Video: Watch Suh Body-Slam Helmetless Andy Dalton to Turf

Wes ODonnellJun 1, 2018

Ndamukong Suh has been cited for excessive roughness before, but he gets a reprieve from me this time around.

First off, the fact that Suh beats an initial double team to get into the backfield speaks volumes of how talented he is. That said, he's also one of those players who always plays to the whistle.

Suh isn't the reason the helmet came off, that distinction belongs to Dalton's own teammate, Jermaine Gresham, who was inadvertently in the way as the train called Suh found Dalton on his tracks.

Secondly, and you have to be honest with yourself here, is there any way Suh would able to tell the different between Andy Dalton's head with a helmet on and Andy Dalton's head without a helmet on?

The orange shine from the Bengals helmets is almost identical to that of Dalton's own head.

Suh did body-slam Dalton to the ground after the play was dead but, again, Suh always plays to the whistle.

This play in particular is a solid representation of what Dalton's night was like overall. The rookie signal caller went 11-of-15 on the night (got the pass off on the play), was hit by Suh (was hit by Suh), threw an interception (was body-slammed by Suh), but was only able to muster three points for his team (his team was awarded a penalty and scored its only three points of the night on the drive).

The Lions' first team dominated the Bengals' first team as Matt Stafford threw two touchdown passes on six of seven passes completed.

There is only one other thing to take away from this place, and that is how the officials view Suh's play on regular basis. Again, he's been cited for this before and he has to be careful about how physical he can be at the point of attack.

The NFL has gone out of its way to protect quarterbacks and the last thing a dominating player like Suh wants is a babysitting ref watching every hit with heightened expectations of foul play.
