WWE SummerSlam 2011 Match Predictions: Winners and Losers

Justin WatryJun 7, 2018

First, I have to be honest, this pay-per-view does not look like it will be worth $45. I am sorry, but I call it like I see it, and the main events are interesting, but I usually buy shows on all around cards. With that being said, let's get to the matches for this Sunday....

Wade vs. Bryan - This one should be fun; that is all I can say about it. When Daniel Bryan first said he was cashing in his MITB briefcase at WrestleMania 28, I thought (and still do) Wade would make a perfect opponent. Instead, we are getting that match here.

As for a winner in this match (which could get some decent time), I am going to go with Daniel Bryan. I am not his biggest fan in the world, but I enjoy his in-ring ability. Him and Wade should be able to have a good match that should leave the LA crowd clapping for a tap out victory.

Sheamus vs. Mark Henry - Yes! Now this is going to be a good match...more like bowling shoe ugly, but that is what you get with two big men. If you have been reading my articles, you will know that I am a big fan of Mark Henry and have been for awhile now. I never understood the hate for him.

Because he is big? Yeah...so. Because he has been around for a long time? True...anything else? The man can go, and with Sheamus (new face) in there, we will see what happens.

I hate to pick DQ/countouts on PPVs, but I am going to pick one here. Have an all out brawl and just destroy the set or something...I don't know. If I HAD to pick, I'd pick Sheamus.

Diva's Title: Kelly Kelly vs. Beth - I love Beth and Nattie teaming up. Love it! Basically, they are taking the place of what Kharma was going to do—run through all the barbie doll divas. Great. The best part is if this builds for months, Kharma could return, stay up for the divas and face Beth and/or Nattie.

For this particular match, I am torn on a winner. It seems likely Beth wins here, but I am leaning towards Kelly retaining for another week or two. THEN she gets squashed! However, I am going to take the leap and pick Beth. If Kelly wins, I won't be as shocked as others because honestly, her winning probably makes more sense.

World Title: Christian vs. Orton - OK, here we go! Let's start with the rumors about Edge. A few weeks ago, I called for Edge to be the special ref for this match; instead, Triple H took that job on the Red Brand.

Now Christian closes Smackdown dropping a hint that someone will help him keep the title. I don't know. As we all know, Edge WILL be in town, so it is possible.

On to Orton...I think he has more opponents right now on Smackdown. If Christian wins, who is next? Orton again? Sheamus again? Orton winning opens more doors on Smackdown.

With all that taken into account, I am going to pick Orton to win and then I hope we can all move on from this feud. *While typing this out, Tyson Tomko popped into my head to realign with Christian, anyone know if he is even available?*

WWE Undisputed title: Cena vs. Punk with HHH as Special Ref - Alright, we all know I try to be realistic with my picks, no "fantasy booking" and going off into la-la land. I try to keep it real with my picks, and I will try to do so here as well.

First, we all know there a million different ways this could go. Second, we all know all but one of those scenarios will become wrong on Sunday. I already touched on the match itself—there is just no way it tops MITB, but it may come close.

Now, my pick: Triple H "accidentally" screws Cena. Punk wins in a cheap fashion, then starts to taunt Triple H afterwards. Of course, Triple H snaps, beats Punk down and gives him the Pedigree to close the show....until....

Alberto Del Rio runs out and cashes in. Yes, I am going to go with the "cash in" here. I have ZERO doubts he will be champion before their October tour of Mexico, so let's just do it now and not drag it out another month.

Del Rio leaves as champion, and if Triple H desires, he knows he has a "corporate champion" type of guy to counter Cena and Punk. My pick is Alberto Del Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiooooooooooo!!!
