Pro Wrestling Top 25: Nothing Is Guaranteed In The Squared Circle

Ron JohnsonNov 11, 2008

In life there is nothing certain but death and taxes. In the world of Top 25s, this is also true. After last week, there were serious shakeups in the Top 25. With that said, here's the lineup for this week heading into the new batch of rankings for Saturday night.

1) The Undertaker (SmackDown!)

The Deadman has been on a roll in his quest to dethrone Vickie from her post. But thanks to Jeff Hardy, he couldn't finish the job against Vladimir Kozlov. Now he has to take his Death March to the Extreme this Friday night.

2) Jeff Hardy (SmackDown!)

The Enigma is on a severe rampage as of late. Since coming up short once again at Cyber Sunday, Hardy has decided that he will do what Kozlov couldn't do: Eliminate the Phenom with Extreme Prejudice. This Friday night, it's taken to another level on SmackDown!

3) Vladimir Kozlov (SmackDown!)

The Moscow Mauler got his victory over the Undertaker (thanks to a DQ and interference from Jeff Hardy). But whether he did enough to earn his shot at Triple H and the WWE Championship remains to be seen. Hopefully, Vickie will give us answers this Friday night.

4) Main Event Mafia (TNA)

The Mafia welcomed Scott Steiner with open arms, and hope that when Turning Point is over, they did enough to make their message clear: They are running the show. On Thursday night, we hope to have the answers to all the questions.

5) The Young Lions Club (TNA)

Samoa Joe and AJ Styles have one goal in mind at Turning Point: to whack the Mafia. With several of the young talent of TNA in tow, can they right the ship known as TNA?

6) Matt Hardy (ECW)

The second hardest working man in ECW made good work of Bam Neely last week. But he'll have his hands full on Tuesday when he defends the ECW Championship against Finlay.

7) Rey Mysterio (RAW)

The Maestro of the 619 got some much needed help from The Great Khali last Monday night to help destroy Mark Henry and Kane. Now the question is what's next for Rey Mysterio?

8) Finlay (ECW)

The Fighting Irishman got some much needed assistance from his son and his trusty shillelagh to defeat Mark Henry and become the #1 Contender for the ECW Championship. Now he has his chance on Tuesday night on ECW on Sci-Fi.

9) Batista (RAW)

The Animal had his first week as Champion come to a crashing halt via a steel cage and the parts that come with it. Now the Animal is almost guaranteed to invoke that rematch clause and make life very difficult for Jericho, RAW, the McMahons...and especially John Cena.

10) Randy Orton (RAW)

The Legend Killer dodged one bullet only to get thrown in front of another. Now Orton is looking to become World Champion and he's not letting anyone stand in his way. Not Shane. Not Adamle. Not Batista. Not even...

11) Chris Jericho (RAW)

The man who claims to be the best reclaimed the top of RAW's mountain by surviving the steel cage. Now he knows that his next title defense will be in Boston at Survivor Series against John Cena. But he also has Batista and Randy Orton in his rearview mirror.

12) DX (RAW/SmackDown!)

For one more night only, Triple H and Shawn Michaels united to destroy the egos of The Dirt Sheet. On Friday night, Triple H had to deal with an irate and powerfully motivated Jeff Hardy during a tag match with the very same Dirt Sheet.

13) The Monstrous Blueprint (TNA)

Abyss and Matt Morgan managed to get the job done in a ladder match on IMPACT! Abyss overcame one ounce of his fears and grabbed the contract that guarantees he and Morgan a shot at the TNA World Tag Team Championships.

14) Beer Money (TNA)

These boys had a busy night. First they defeated the Guns in a six man tag, and then they ensured that Team 3D didn't get a shot at their gold. Their response: Sorry about your damn luck!

15) The Dirt Sheet (ECW)

They say Be Jealous! I say you guys should spend more time fighting and showing your true skills instead of being the horse's ass on YouTube. Either way, they may have some new rivals in the form of Hawkins and Ryder as well as the Colons. Remember CTC?

16) Mark Henry (ECW)

The World's Strongest Man has been a bust since losing the gold at the Championship Scramble. Now he is determined to make sure that he is the only one that is wearing the strap heading into Armageddon. Unfortunately, Finlay didn't get that memo.

17) The Kings of Punk (RAW)

The new Tag Team Champions split the workload on Monday night. Punk was looking for revenge against Randy Orton, while Kofi was tagging with Rey Mysterio to take on Henry and Kane.

18) The Bellas (SD!)

After weeks of speculation and "Here's Your Sign" moments, we finally know that Brie has a twin sister named Nikki. The two are slated to fight Victoria and Natalya sometime in the future. But who cares? Two "Bella" Dancers are better than one! Can we say "HOT!"

19) Jack Swagger (ECW)

The brash cocky newcomer got a win against Dreamer the week before. But when he made it personal, he got his ass handed to him on an extreme silver platter. Now tonight, he might want to bite his words when he goes into ECW tonight.

20) Hornswoggle (ECW)

The littlest superstar knows how to make his impression felt. Anyone who can drop a WWE Legend is perfect for a Top 25 ranking. And if you don't like that, he'll just hump your girl's leg for a few minutes.

21) Shelton Benjamin (SmackDown!)

Just when we thought that he had lost his touch, the Gold Standard proved why he is one of the best technical wrestlers today. On SmackDown! he managed to stave off the onslaught of R-Truth, and now we wonder who is next to challenge for the US Title.

22) Motor City Machineguns (TNA)

The Guns crossed the line and joined the fight against the Mafia. But they have to focus on the tag titles and Beer Money at Turning Point. Can the Guns fulfill their ultimate destiny and win the TNA World Tag Team Titles?

23) Vickie Guerrero (SmackDown!)

As much as everyone hates her guts, she has been making some pretty gutsy calls. Now she's granted Jeff Hardy the right to face the Deadman on SmackDown! with Extreme Rules on the table. Good job Vickie! Now you're starting to get it.

24) The Great Khali (SmackDown!)

From Punjabi Giant to Punjabi Playboy, the Great Khali is still as dangerous as he's ever been. He proved that by taking out Mark Henry, Kane and MVP all in one week. Now which lucky woman will be left breathless this week on SmackDown!?

25) Mike Adamle (Formerly of RAW)

For those who were waiting for it, it's finally arrived. Thanks to the slap to Orton, Mike Adamle has decided to step down as General Manager of RAW. Well that experiment failed. What's next for the flagship, and can it be saved before it's too late?

Upcoming Events: WWE Survivor Series (November 23rd) & TNA Final Resolution (December 7th)
