WWE Smackdown Report, August 12th, 2011: The Good, the Bad, the Ugly
Tonight was a pretty good episode of SmackDown. It did not do too much, but it kept me awake and interested until the end, which is all I (usually) ask for. With Sunday being SummerSlam, I felt that WWE had to deliver a very good go-home show.
They fell just short of that...maybe they got a triple up at bat, just not quite a home run from the Blue Brand tonight. The divas segment was fine. The opening Christian/Triple H segment was okay, plus Sheamus and Henry both were strong all night. We even got a fun Sin Cara return and a clean winner in Del Rio vs. Daniel Bryan.

Outside of that was the good, the bad and the ugly....
The Good
Cody Rhodes beats Big Zeke for the IC title, then Ted gets destroyed. This was a beautiful 15 minutes. It really was. Everything was done perfectly, and we have a new heel champion, which is always good news to me.
There is clearly more of an upside to Cody right now over Zeke, so let's see him run with the title for awhile. Zeke just about killing Ted tells me the feud will continue—at least for another week or two—and Ted gains *some* sympathy from the fans (supposedly...).
The Bad
SummerSlam hype. I touched on this before but will here one last time. There is not much build up behind SummerSlam this year, and it is quite sad. I remember being jacked for last year's event. I remember being even MORE jacked for 2009's event.
This year? Not so much outside of a few things—WWE just did not put much effort into making an all-around card worth seeing. I suppose Wade vs. Bryan could be added, and it would be a fun match, but nothing close to shelling down $45.
The Ugly
The terrible burial of Johnny Curtis. This absolutely made me sick. I am in near tears, as I try to type this little paragraph up. Just so frustrating to see WWE do this to such a fine young athlete!
Not only does Johnny Curtis have the charisma of The Rock and the wrestling skills as Ric Flair, but he also has the good looks of Randy Orton! This was just so dreadfully bad. Why do this to Johnny Curtis? The future of the business just buried in his debut on SmackDown!
It is just about enough to me me sick. I swear I am so close to sending in a complaint to WWE offices right now! Ugh!
Me? The most positive guy you will ever know, and I am sick to my stomach over this. I have not been this upset over a loss in quite some time. Johnny Curtis being squashed is so bad...I...I...I am going to boycott WWE from this point forward!!! Johnny Curtis = Future Legend!
(Ends sarcastic rant.)
