Lee Evans to Ravens: 3 Ways Baltimore Benefits from Adding Former Bills WR
The Baltimore Ravens have traded for former Buffalo Bills wide receiver Lee Evans.
Evans has two years left on his contract and makes a base salary of $3.27 million this season, plus incentives.
The Ravens now have another proven wide out to pair up with Anquan Boldin.
That means rookies Tandon Doss and Torrey Smith will get to learn from two very good wide receivers.
Let's take a look at three ways Evans will help the Ravens' offense.
3. Good Route Running
1 of 3Sometimes, receivers rely too much on their speed and not enough on their route running.
Evans gives the Ravens the best of both worlds.
He is a speedy wide out, and he takes pride in running crisp routes.
He should turn in a great year in 2011 now that he has a halfway decent QB throwing to him.
2. Veteran Presence
2 of 3Evans will give the Ravens another leader in the locker room.
That's especially helpful for the wide receivers.
Rookies Torrey Smith and Tandon Doss now get to learn from both Anquan Boldin and Evans.
Both of those veterans are great examples of how to handle yourself professionally.
Smith and Doss will be better off in the long run for working with Boldin and Evans.
1. Deep Threat
3 of 3Lee Evans gives the Ravens a legitimate big-play wide receiver.
The 30-year-old has averaged 15-plus yards-per-catch in all but one of his professional seasons and has two 1,000 yard seasons under his belt.
Evans' 1,000-plus-yard seasons are probably behind him, but he can still be a very productive player.
He complements Boldin's possession-style receiving perfectly and will give Joe Flacco a chance to showcase his strong arm.
