TNA's Bound for Glory: Awesome Analysis and Predictions to the Epic Pay-Per-View

Kevin GermanyJun 7, 2018

Bound for Glory is TNA's answer to WrestleMania. To be fair, Bound for Glory is nowhere near the level of spectacle WrestleMania is.

Bound for Glory will be a great card from top to bottom. My card may need to be extended to four hours to get all the matches proper time.

Now, I will write a Bound for Glory prediction that I think will transpire. Of course, it doesn't matter what I think in Hulk Hogan's or Eric Bischoff's eyes. With that said, here is my analysis and preview of Bound for Glory.

Dark Match: Pope (with Devon) vs. Samoa Joe

1 of 12

Samoa Joe and Pope had a mediocre feud earlier this year. But, Pope rescuing Devon from Samoa Joe certainly will restart this feud. Pope is now focusing on his relationship with Devon.

Pope and Joe can put on a great match if given enough time. Samoa Joe finally snaps out of his losing streak with a rear naked choke.

Winner: Samoa Joe

Estimated Match Time: 10 minutes

Austin Aries (C) vs. Alex Shelley vs. Brian Kendrick in an Ultimate X Match

2 of 12

An Ultimate X match for the X-Division championship is the perfect way to open Bound for Glory. There is a good rivalry going on with Austin Aries and Alex Shelley.

Brian Kendrick as X-Division champion is a far cry from the reign of terror Abyss had. I expect Aries to defeat him at No Surrender to become the new champion.

Austin Aries retains his X-Division gold by grabbing the X just before Shelley can get there. It is a great, fast-paced match. It gets the Philadelphia crowd fired up for the rest of the show.

Winner (and still champion): Austin Aries

Estimated Match Time: 15 minutes

Mexican America (C) vs. British Invasion for the Tag Titles

3 of 12

Mexican America's tag team win over Beer Money finally takes the belts off Beer Money. I see those pathetic posers holding the belts all the way to Bound for Glory. Sadly, I can't see Hernandez or Anarquia taking English or Spanish classes.

British Invasion can be a great tag team. Magnus has great mic skills, while Douglas Williams is outstanding in the ring.

"Viva La Raza!" Hernandez yells going in to the match. Magnus yells "Viva La Raza!" while Anarquia learns Chaos Theory from Douglas Williams.

Winner (and new champions): British Invasion

Estimated Match Time: 12 minutes

Winter (C) vs. Velvet Sky for the Knockouts Championship

4 of 12

Winter as Knockouts Champion is interesting, considering how Mickie James had a good run with the belt. I see Mickie James losing her rematch against Winter at No Surrender.

Velvet Sky wins a No. 1 contender's battle royal to get the title shot at Bound for Glory. I hope she gets her moment to shine, because she has been embroiled in a feud with ODB and Jackie for quite some time.

Velvet Sky gets her Bound for Glory moment here as she hits the Skyliner on Winter.

Winner (and new champion): Velvet Sky

Estimated Match Time: Seven minutes

AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels

5 of 12

Christopher Daniels and AJ Styles are real-life best friends. They have great chemistry in the ring together and are capable of putting on electrifying matches. Their match at Destination X was very good.

Now, Daniels has been obsessed as of late trying to get one more match with AJ Styles. I see him turning heel at No Surrender. He challenges Styles to a match at Bound for Glory.

I see this match stealing the show at Philadelphia. AJ Styles gets the win here because I said so.

Winner: AJ Styles

Estimated Match Time: 15 minutes

Rob Van Dam vs. Jerry Lynn in a Hardcore Match

6 of 12

RVD and Jerry Lynn were ECW mainstays from back in the day. The Philadelphia crowd will remember just how hardcore ECW was when these two seasoned warriors go at it. Their feud started when Lynn cost RVD the match at Hardcore Justice against Crimson by disqualifying RVD.

Let me rant for a second. Really? A disqualification at Hardcore Justice? How would that big fat walrus Paul Heyman react to that? Would ECW stand for this?

Getting back to topic, RVD wins with the five-star frog splash through a table surrounded by thumbtacks and barbwire on Jerry Lynn.

The fans chant "ECW!" as nostalgia sets in.

Winner: RVD

Estimated Match Time: 10 minutes

Mr. Anderson vs. Gunner, Abyss, Scott Steiner and Bully Ray in a Gauntlet Match

7 of 12

I also see this feud stemming from Hardcore Justice spilling over into Bound for Glory. Mr. Anderson's recent expulsion from Immortal means he is back in his comfort zone as a lone wolf.

Immortal has been showing some cracks lately. Volatile personalities such as Scott Steiner, Bully Ray and Abyss all have the potential to make explosive situations happen on a dime. Gunner and the rest of Immortal aren't exactly the epitome of calm, cool and collected, either.

Mr. Anderson has to defy the odds here to win the match.

He first hits a Mic Check on Scott Steiner to get the first fall. Gunner and Anderson go at it for a while but the Green Bay native rolls Gunner up using the tights to get the second fall.

Now it's Abyss vs. Mr. Anderson. Somehow, Mr. Anderson uses a spare mic to smack Abyss upside the head. He then connects on the Mic Check on Abyss to get the third fall.

Bully Ray is the last man standing between victory and total humiliation for Immortal. Bully Ray is about to win the match when Devon hits Bully Ray with a chair. Anderson then hits a stunned Bully Ray with a Mic Check to overcome insurmountable odds.

Winner: Mr. Anderson

Estimated Match Time: 15 minutes

Bobby Roode vs. James Storm

8 of 12

It is only a matter of time before Bobby Roode and James Storm begin to feud. My guess is they start to feud after they lose their rematch against Mexican America at No Surrender. Another possibility is they cost each other the Bound for Glory series match at No Surrender.

Either way, there is a slow buildup to this feud. Beer Money is no more after a match between James Storm and Bobby Roode at Bound for Glory is set.

Bobby Roode wins after an emotional contest. This feud is not over.

Winner: Bobby Roode

Estimated Match Time: 12 minutes

Jeff Jarrett (C) vs. Chavo Guerrero for the AAA Championship

9 of 12

If TNA were smart, they would sign Chavo Guerrero to feud with Jeff Jarrett over the AAA title. Chavo is the perfect man to take the AAA Championship back to its rightful home in Mexico.

Chavo can reveal the phoniness of Mexican America and Jeff Jarrett. This can be a highly personal feud with Jarrett calling out the Guerrero family. Spanish announce team member Hector Guerrero can bring Chavo to TNA to respond to Jarrett's AAA reign.

Chavo can either sign a short term or a long term deal with TNA. It makes no difference in this feud. Either way, I expect this bout to be a great match. Jeff Jarrett uses a guitar shot to achieve victory over the former WWE jobber.

Winner (and still champion): Jeff Jarrett

Estimated Match Time: 15 minutes

Kurt Angle (C) vs. Crimson for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship

10 of 12

Kurt Angle can make anyone look good in the ring. Angle's recent heel turn is obviously set up for him to put Crimson over. Crimson will obviously win the Bound for Glory series at No Surrender.

Crimson's undefeated streak vs. Kurt Angle's TNA World Heavyweight Championship for all the marbles.

Kurt Angle will eventually have to drop the belt so he can prepare for the Olympics. But not right now. Angle makes Crimson submit to the ankle lock after a great match.

Winner (and still champion): Kurt Angle

Estimated Match Time: 20 minutes

This next match is the ultimate main event. Well, if you jumped back 15 years ago.

Hulk Hogan (with Ric Flair) vs. Sting in a Loser Must Retire Match

11 of 12

Nostalgia sells in this industry. Hulk Hogan goes into his final match with the red and yellow. It's Hulkamania for one last time.

Sting comes out in his trademark WCW "Crow" gimmick and baseball bat.

This match ends when Sting hits a scorpion death drop to end Hulk Hogan's illustrious career.

Winner: Sting

Estimated Match Time: Five minutes

Conclusion

12 of 12

Ric Flair is fired up about Bound for Glory. Hopefully, the TNA fans will be fired up as well.

I see the Kurt Angle-Crimson feud continuing until the end of the year. Crimson is too green to become champion right now. Let him fight for the belt until he finally defeats Angle at Final Resolution or Genesis.

Hulk Hogan will likely return as a face. Immortal is bound to dissolve because there is too much dissension among the ranks. Furthermore, no Immortal member needs the stable to get over.

Jeff Jarrett takes his AAA championship to Mexico. The British Invasion and Mexican America feud for the tag team titles. Ink Inc. eventually will get a title shot once Jesse Neal returns from injury because they won a No. 1 contender's match at Lockdown.

That is my TNA Bound for Glory pay-per-view preview.
