10 Fantasy Football DUDS from Week 10

November 11, 2008

The playoff run in fantasy football is right now.  There are only about three weeks left of the regular fantasy football season in most leagues.  You can’t afford your guys taking a dive on you…yet they do.

Here is a look at this weeks duds and busts and whether or not you can expect them to rebound.

QB: Jake Delhomme, Panthers

Seven completed passes.  WHAT?  That is crazy.  He did manage to get a TD out of that but he also completed four passes to the other team.  Some fun trivia for ya… Jake has not completed just seven passes since Dec. 8, 2002 against the Ravens when he was with the Saints.

He did go 7 of 8 in that game though.  I’m sure that a game against the Lions next week will not come soon enough to get that taste out of his mouth.

RB: Chris Johnson, Titans

How fast we turn on you here at Football Jabber!  Just last week Chris Johnson was on Team Stud.  This week…not so much.  He has been banished to Team Dud with his eight yards rushing.

Since we did fun trivia with Jake… that is a career worst for Johnson.  Short career, I know but man that had to suck if you started him since he has been treating you so good until now.

RB: Marshawn Lynch, Bills

Lynch and his owners are having a rough couple of weeks.  Even on the season, Lynch is not the monster that some people thought he would be.

For the record people, Dick Jauron has never cared about fantasy owners and his offense often is on the bottom half of the league going back to his first couple years with the Bears.

We hoped Lynch would be different.

WR: Lee Evans, Bills

Lee Evans seems to be shut down by the Patriots on a regular basis so we wouldn’t look too far into this performance.  Evans seems to be the one that really fights my Dick Jauron logic attached to Lynch above.  You can usually bank on some big plays out of Evans, not this week.

WR: Steve Smith, Panthers

Remember when we talked about Jake Delhomme earlier?  It was just a couple guys ago up there…anyway, there were more INT’s caught that were intended for Smith than he actually caught.  One catch for 10 yards is all we got out of Smith this week.  Yes, I say we, because I ate it this week.

TE: Owen Daniels, Texans

Last week I said to make sure you had Daniels in if Sage Rosenfels was going to get the start because he gets more targets.  Nevermind.

I’m not afraid to admit I was wrong on that one.  I was weary of the Ravens D but whatya do?  They should make for a decent hook up in non-Raven playing weeks to come.

DT/ST:  Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles are one of the top performing units this season, but they put up a dud this week.  Could be the 401 net yards they allowed.  Yeah…that can do it.  They didn’t tend to get to the QB or get the ball as much either.

All swell reasons as to why the Eagles D didn’t have you very happy this week.

Individual Defensive Players (IDP)

LB: Jonathan Vilma, Saints

Two tackles and an assist.  The Saints laid down the fantasy football on the defensive side of the ball this week too.  Not long ago Vilma was threatening to take the lead in tackles on the season.  This week was only the second bad game Vilma has had on the season and should easily bounce back.  Vilma is only a handful of tackles away from being a Top Three LB.

DL: Terrell Suggs, Ravens

Suggs put up his first really mediocre game since week five.  Just two tackles and two assists.  The way things are going he should easily end the season in the top three DE’s...if that is your real fantasy name.

DB: Gibril Wilson, Raiders

There really was not a bomb of a performance for the D-backs this week but considering that Wilson lost the top D-Back spot this week because he only logged three tackles and an assist, we will go with him.
