Fantasy Football: Quarterback Woes

Dan BentonNov 10, 2008

At this point in your fantasy season, it's likely that you've been hit by the injury bug.  But what about players that just aren't performing? There are a lot of them out there this year, and quarterbacks are suffering more than any other position.

Let's take a look at some big names that have been benched in favor of their backup.

Vince Young, TEN

Young played in the Titans' first game of the season against Jacksonville and got them started on their amazing 9-0 run.  After that, there were some character questions and questions about his mental stability off the field, which resulted in him being replaced by aging veteran Kerry Collins.

Tennessee has flourished for the decision, and the team knows that it's still Young's team. He's just not ready yet.

It's unfortunate for fantasy owners who drafted Vince at the beginning of the season because they lost a roster spot for weeks before realizing that Young isn't going to get his starting spot back anytime soon.

The impact has been dramatic. Young is now owned in just over 14 percent of leagues while Collins, who went undrafted in many leagues, is now owned in over 20 percent of leagues.

The fact that he's still readily available speaks for GMs hesitation in picking up the 35-year old quarterback. But forget his age and his past; Collins is having a phenomenal season, so if he's still available in your league, I highly recommend you pick him up.  Especially with QBs dropping like flies all over the league.

Who are some other quarterbacks suffering through the 2008 season? Whom should you pick up to replace them?
