Michigan Football Weekly Recruiting Update: Nov. 10
This week I will look into who will be visiting for the Northwestern game, where star wide receiver Shaquelle Evans ended up, and who's solid with the Wolverines and who is wavering.
What started to be a big weekend for Michigan recruiting now has fallen dramatically due to high school playoffs. Taylor Lewan, Dennis Thames, Angelo Hadley, Mywan Jackson, and Donovan Tate all had official visits scheduled for this weekend, but because of high school playoffs they will not be able to make it.
Lewan, Jackson, and Hadley all have visits rescheduled for early in December. Don't expect Tate or Thames to reschedule because both of them have been heavily leaning toward other schools. This was the Wolverines' turn to change that, but they probably won't get that chance now.
Four-star California native Shaquelle Evans made his decision last week and sadly will not be headed to Ann Arbor. Instead he will be heading to one of their fiercest rivals. Evans decided he will spend his college years in South Bend playing for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
This is a big hit to Michigan, because although there was only a slight chance we were going to land him, we are in desperate need for someone to replace Bryce McNeal, who decommitted last month.
The Wolverines may have found their replacement for five-star defensive tackle William Campbell if he decides not to sign with Michigan. Oklahoma's Pearlie Graves is favoring the Maize & Blue. The only thing holding him back right now is his academic résumé, which is getting better but not up to Michigan standards.
The four-star defensive tackle has also received offers from the likes of Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, and Texas Tech but liked what he saw when he came to see Michigan face Wisconsin.
With a poor season and a few decommitments, there has been much speculation whether Michigan will be able to hold on their recruits. Here is who solid and who's still searching.
Solid: QB Tate Forcier, QB Shavodrick Beaver, RB Fitzgerald Toussaint, RB Vincent Smith, RB Teric Jones, OL Michael Scholfield, DE Craig Roh, DE Anthony LaLota, LB Jordan Barnes, LB Brandin Hawthorne, DB Justin Turner, DB Mike Jones, DB Isiah Bell, ATH Jeremy Gallon, ATH Thomas Gordon.
Still Looking: DT DeQuinta Jones and WR Dewayne Peace.
Jones wants to take visits with his teammate Reuben Randle. Meanwhile, Peace was the only recruit to come away from the MSU game with negative remarks, and though that may sound bad, it has nothing to do with Michigan's play.
Instead we can blame Mother Nature because Peace did not take a liking to the cold weather at all. Peace announced he will be likely taking visits to Florida and Texas schools now.
That's all for this week. Coming up next week: a summary of the recruits' visits and much more.
