Terrelle Pryor: Does Pryor Deserve a Shot at NFL Supplemental Draft?

Brandon GalvinJun 3, 2018

The NFL supplemental draft will be a harsh reality check for former Ohio State QB Terrelle Pryor and his agent Drew Rosenhaus. It doesn’t matter at this point if he is declared eligible or not for the supplemental draft because organizations will quickly glance over his name and move on. Nobody is going to waste a draft pick on a career backup quarterback, despite the extravagant picture his agent paints.

We are currently in the midst of conflicting reports regarding Pryor’s supplement draft eligibility. According to NFL’s Jason La Canfora on Twitter:

"

“NFL sent memo to all teams on eligible players for supplemental draft—Pryor from Ohio State is NOT on the list”

If anybody is talking about a Rosenhaus client, Rosenhaus will chime in with his opinion or up-to-the-second information. According to Rosenhaus on Twitter via his iPad.:

"

“We spoke with the NFL today and were told that no decision has been made yet regarding Terrelle's eligibility for the supplemental draft”

"

At this point, it would be better for Pyror to be denied before the supplement draft than to face the devastating heartbreak of being passed by 32 organizations. There, that’s the extent of my sympathy and advice for the terrible NFL quarterback prospect who cost his Ohio State Buckeyes teammates their 2011 season.

Rosenhaus may be money, according to Scott van Pelt, in arguably the greatest ESPN SportsCenter commercials ever, but he couldn’t have his head further in the sand regarding his client. Pryor is nothing more than another over-hyped quarterback who won’t come close to hacking it at the professional level. He was a head case before he got to Ohio State and he will forever be a head case.

I don’t want to hear about how he is humbled. I’ll save that for somebody who actually has the talent to play quarterback in the NFL. I’ll listen to Michael Vick tell me he’s humbled from his experiences all day because that man can play quarterback and he excelled throughout his career. That man made me, his teammates and millions of people believe that no matter what the score is, his team could still win.

The same goes for the likes of Cam Newton and Tim Tebow. I’ll let Cam tell me about how his trials and tribulations have helped him succeed and become the man he is today. I’ll let Tebow convince me to throw on the pads and throw my body in front of Patrick Willis or Ray Lewis just to give him an extra second in the pocket.

These three resilient men force you to believe in their abilities. They force you to not just believe in them as leaders, but in yourself as a teammate. This is what separates these young quarterbacks from the likes of a Terrelle Pryor.

Do you get that feeling from Pryor? More importantly, have you ever? The answer is an emphatic “no” because it is impossible to believe he has the skill set or leadership qualities to win in the NFL.

Pryor may have the stats, but he doesn’t have the intangibles to excel in the NFL. When I look at Pryor, all I see is another JaMarcus Russell, a big and strong quarterback who won’t hack it.

I have as much trouble believing he will be a winner as I do Rosenhaus’ despicable rant. I’d be lying through my teeth, well fingertips, just like Rosenhaus did in that rant if I told you he would be a difference maker for an NFL team.

Let him go to the CFL or UFL and enjoy playing football, I’m not trying to stop him from playing the game he loves at the position he wants to play. Yet he is as misguided as Rosenhaus if he believes in his own hype and that he will be selected in the supplemental draft. I’m just trying to save this man further heartbreak and sleepless nights.
