Arizona Cardinals TE Todd Heap: Career-Resurrection Candidate
The title alone is enough to raise eyebrows. Most fans will question whether Todd Heap's career really is/was in the dumps, and to be honest, I’m not going to argue.
However, the Arizona Cardinals TE should be on his way to another great season.
After the Ravens cut ties with Heap, many were dumbfounded, as was I. Sure, the new cap space is nice, but you’re losing a valuable asset to Joe Flacco—a scarce asset in a receiving corps that is average at best.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Maybe there are lingering injury concerns. Maybe there is something that we don’t know. Well, we may or may not find out in the upcoming season, but we would be wasting our time pondering it.
Heap caught 40 passes for 599 yards and five TDs in 2010—a far cry from a poor year—but now he is in a new locker room that happens to be embracing him.
The new QB in Arizona, Kevin Kolb, needs a safety blanket, and Heap is just that. After helping Joe Flacco develop, he now gets to help another young QB, although this might be his last run. Heap is 31 and has had some moderate injury issues in the past, though not much more serious than the average player.
Heap will be retiring as a Cardinal, though, as he has a couple of good years left in the tank and plenty of time to help the Cardinals make a serious playoff run. The Cards have improved the defense and the running game and have gotten themselves a QB.
It is undetermined how effective Kolb will be his first year as a starter, but I have to believe it’ll be somewhere around the average. Heap will ensure that.
Heap retains the same fantasy value he has had for years. Draft him as a very solid TE2 and don’t sweat if he ends up being your best TE. He very well could accumulate more TDs than usual and should get somewhere in the neighborhood of 600 yards.
Best of luck, Todd. The Cardinals are shaping up to be a breakout team if not in 2011, 2012.
