Stone Cold Steve Austin Wants to Wrestle CM Punk (Video)

Earlier in the week I posed a potential matchup for WrestleMania involving Chris Jericho and CM Punk. Many of you readers loved the concept but felt it was more of an undercard match than a main event.

Tonight I present to you a matchup that has been considered by the Texas Rattlesnake himself, Stone Cold Steve Austin

WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin appeared tonight on G4’s Attack of the Show to promote his new movie, Tactical Force, which officially hits stores tomorrow.

The Hall of Fame legend was asked about the rumors of him wanting to wrestle CM Punk at next year’s WrestleMania 28 pay-per-view from Miami, Florida.

Austin would go on to say that he is a huge fan of Punk and if he did come back for another match, he would want it to be against the Straight Edge Superstar CM Punk. You can fast forward to about 1:50 in the video.

Austin however would not say if the match will or won’t happen next year.

Now I realize this is all speculation, but can you imagine a card involving two of the most controversial and epic heels in the history of the WWE? While these two men portray heels, they draw such a positive reaction from the crowd they can be considered anti-heroes.

When looking at these two stars they would make for an awesome match. Both can work a crowd so well that I could see the crowd cheering for both men simultaneously.

CM Punk is at the top of his game and squaring off with a legend like Stone Cold can only make him more of a household name.

Both are considered to be unorthodox and loose canons who can run their mouth and simultaneously back up their smack talk.

These renegades and outlaws had a brief backstage exchange earlier this year and were active over Twitter conceding a fantasy warfare match depicted in the video game WWE All Stars. Many of you are probably wondering how this could come into fruition given that Stone Cold really isn't on TV.

The logic and buildup for this match could be CM Punk attempting to one-up John Cena. Cena is facing off with the Rock and the parallels of the feuds would be great.

This could lead to a tag team match on Raw involving all four competitors and it would be an instant moneymaker. The fans have always wanted to see Stone Cold vs. The Rock one more time.

Austin has said in the past that if he really wanted too that he could wrestle two to three more years. However he has been content living out on his ranch, acting and hosting WWE Tough Enough.

This story is only in the infancy stages but with a mega Stone Cold DVD in the works he would likely come on Raw to promote it, and this promotion could bridge him back into the WWE.

This match would have a lot of star power and wrestlers who could generate a lot of buzz for the biggest event of the year.

However, the question I pose to you, the fans, the same fans who #wantwrestling: would a CM Punk and Stone Cold be a great match for sooner or later?

Wrestling is for the fans and we have a voice. We want wrestling and I feel this is a great way to air out some ideas.
