The San Francisco 49ers are an older franchise than the Oakland Raiders. They are located close to Oakland, and the competition between the two teams is fierce.
Fans may wobble back and forth between the two teams, since many folks from the Bay Area have allegiance to both teams. There are, however, some fans who would never waver in their allegiance to the Oakland Raiders. Others would never waver in their love for the 49ers.
When you look at the teams' all-time win percentages through 2010, you see that there is only a .003 difference in favor of the Oakland Raiders. The 49ers have a win percentage of .541, while the Raiders' is .544.

The closeness in the win percentages of both teams parallels the close location of the teams in the Bay Area.
The Raiders' 8-8 record last year does look better than the 6-10 record of the 49ers, though the 49ers defeated the Raiders by a score of 17-9.
Although their next matchup next week is just a preseason game, the Raiders need to set the record straight and defeat the 49ers just to make a point. The 49ers and the Raiders do not have a game scheduled during the 2011 regular season.
The Oakland Raiders have to set the record straight this season in order to rekindle the interest and passion of the Raider Nation. There were too many blackouts in 2010. We don't want any blackouts in 2011.
Go Raiders! Go Raider Nation, and show up at the stadium in 2011.
