Brett Favre: 5 Teams Favre Could Join During the 2011 NFL Season
It’s almost time for the NFL season to start, so you know what that means.
It’s time to start talking about what team Brett Favre will play for this season.
We’d all like to believe that Favre is finally retired for good, but there are a few teams out there that could probably convince Favre to come out of retirement.
Peter King of Sports Illustrated writes that Favre could be tempted to come back:
""I think, from what I'm hearing (not from the horse's mouth, but from someone who would know), Brett Favre is being slightly tempted about playing football again. When I say slightly, I mean slightly. I don't think any team is going to come after him now, and I don't think he's going to pursue anything. But I do think if a starter gets hurt or stinks, and the coach has no faith in the backup, Favre is going to get a call. Depending on the team, he might consider returning."
"
This season, he’ll probably try to play the part of “Knight in Shining Armor” for a team that either loses its QB early to injury or is a solid QB away from making the playoffs (he’s not going to come back just to play for the Bengals or the Bills, after all).
Let’s take a look at five teams that fit that bill.
5. Detroit Lions
1 of 5The Lions are an attractive team offensively.
They have Calvin Johnson, Brandon Pettigrew and Jahvid Best.
If Matthew Stafford suffers another injury early this season, Favre could come in and once again try to exact his revenge on the Packers.
The only question is: does he really still hold that big of a grudge against Ted Thompson?
4. San Francisco 49ers
2 of 5The NFC West is a horrible division.
And, Alex Smith is a horrible quarterback.
The rest of the 49ers are talented enough to win the weak division, but Smith might hold them back.
If he doesn’t figure things out early this season, Favre is a definite possibility in ‘Frisco.
3. Seattle Seahawks
3 of 5The NFC West is a horrible division.
And, Tarvaris Jackson is a horrible quarterback.
On a side note, could you imagine how devastated Jackson would be if Favre came to Seattle and once again replaced him as quarterback?
I’d like to see what his reaction would be.
2. Washington Redskins
4 of 5John Beck and Rex Grossman aren’t going to take the Redskins to the playoffs.
It’s possible Mike Shanahan could convince Favre to come in before the season and take over the quarterback position in Washington.
But, even with Favre, I don’t see the Redskins coming anywhere close to the playoffs.
1. Miami Dolphins
5 of 5The Dolphins have an outside shot at a wild card spot.
If Henne’s play starts costing them wins, the Dolphins will be on the phone to Favre.
That might not be a bad spot for him.
At his age, the Florida heat will be better than snow and cold temperatures.
