2011 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational: Tournament Recap

Ben CousinsJun 7, 2018

Adam Scott's final-round 65 was good enough for a four-stroke victory and his eighth career PGA Tour win.

The victory, however, was not the story. The story was of Steve Williams, Tiger Woods' ex-caddy who has since joined forces with Adam Scott. The victory was both vindication and relief.

In an interview, Williams mentioned that of all the victories Williams has been on the bag for, that this win was the best. A bold statement considering Steve was on Tiger's bag for 13 majors.

The win is Adam's his first this season and his first career WGC event win.

Rickie Fowler and Luke Donald both fired final round 66s to finish in a tie for second place.

The second place finish is Luke's ninth top-10 finish this season on the PGA Tour.

Rickie now has four top-10s this season.

Tiger Woods finished admirably in his first event since the Players Championship. He finished a one-over par for the tournament, good enough for T37.

Tiger has to be happy with this performance and provides a good feeling for next week's PGA Championship.

Ryo Ishikawa, 19, of Japan came through with his first top-10 finish on the PGA Tour.

Ishikawa honourably agreed to donate all of his earnings from the season to Japan relief. He had donated almost $150,000 before this event.

With such a strong field, the Bridgestone Invitational has given players a good warm up for next week's PGA Championship.
