Could Steven Jackson Break the St. Louis Rams' Career Rushing TD Record in 2011?
Steven Jackson is already the St. Louis Rams' all-time leading rusher, but this season he has a chance to also grab hold of the career rushing touchdown title as well.
Jackson currently sits at third on the Rams' all-time list behind Marshall Faulk and Eric Dickerson. He needs 11 rushing touchdowns to tie Faulk at 58 touchdowns and 12 to break the mark.
Steven Jackson hasn't rushed for double-digit touchdowns since his breakout season in 2006, during which he scored 13.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
It's pretty safe to say that the teams of 2007-09 aren't as good as the team Jackson has now.
In that time period, teams would load eight men into the box constantly because there was little threat from the St. Louis aerial attack.
Jackson will have to improve a lot on his numbers from a season ago, when he had just six rushing scores.
Much has been made about the fact that Josh McDaniels isn't a guy who likes to run the ball a lot. People look at Corey Dillon's stats under McDaniels and only seem to notice the fact that he ran for 1,000 yards once.
In his three seasons in New England, Dillon ran for 12 touchdowns twice and 13 once.
The running back tandem of Knowshon Moreno and Correll Buckhaulter didn't produce, but that could be due to line play. Another thing to note is that Corey Dillon is built more like Steven Jackson than Moreno.
The pieces that the Rams have added should especially help Jackson reach the touchdown mark.
The addition of Harvey Dahl will help the rushing game, especially on goal line situations. The past couple seasons it has been frustrating to see Jackson carry the team all the way down the field only to have pass plays called in the red zone. Dahl could easily help pave the way for three or more red-zone scores from Jackson.
The addition of receivers and the emergence of Sam Bradford will prevent teams from loading the box.
More running lanes equal more opportunities for Jackson.
Whenever Steven Jackson does break the record for most rushing touchdowns, he will become arguably the greatest running back to ever suit up for the Rams.
Marshall Faulk and Eric Dickerson are both Hall of Famers, but neither of them will be able to touch the total seasons that Jackson has put in for the Rams. Marshall played seven season for the Rams; Dickerson, five.
Jackson has the opportunity to play 10 seasons as a Ram.
Everybody loves the flashy play of Faulk and Dickerson, but the passion that Jackson shows game in and game out, regardless of the score, puts him as the best running back in Rams history in my book.
