UFC 133 Fight Card: Can Tito Ortiz Really Beat Rashad Evans?

Dale De SouzaJun 7, 2018

Yes, Tito Ortiz can win this fight against "Suga" Rashad Evans.

Let's just get this out of the way right now and leave the doubt in the dumpsters.

Tito Ortiz always had a shot to pull out a win, but he seemed to plainly be overmatched by opponents who were just a little bit better than he stylistically.

On paper, Rashad Evans is probably better than Tito is, and on paper, Ryan Bader was better than Tito was.

I guess Tito never got the memo, because he dropped Bader and locked in one hell of a guillotine for the win.

Now he gets Rashad Evans, and yet many have Rashad as the favorite despite the former UFC light heavyweight champion (Evans) being on the sidelines for over a year.

However, the work one puts in at the gym isn't the same as the work one puts in at fight time, and while Rashad Evans does train out of American Top Team these days and while he does have Tyrone Spong helping him out with his striking, how much of that can he really hope to put together when he faces Ortiz?

Granted, it'd show that Rashad hasn't lost a step himself, but if Rashad gets too flashy with his striking, Tito could counter and make him pay for it afterwards.

As for the wrestling...Tito's a wrestler too, just so everyone knows.

In all honesty, Tito can beat Evans wherever the fight goes, regardless of how long the fight goes.

It's not the matter of if he wins, but how he wins, that should be making Rashad scared right now.

If he's not a little bit scared right now, then heaven help him and save his soul, because his rear end will belong to The Huntington Beach Bad Boy once more.
