TNA Impact Wrestling Report: August 4th, 2011: The Good, the Bad, the Ugly

Justin WatryMay 31, 2018

Anyone that knows me knows that I try to be as positive as possible. I some cases though, it is just so hard to find something good to say. With TNA a lot of times, that is how I feel.

Just super frustrating to watch, super hard to get into, super hard to believe in, super hard to...care. Tonight, I watched their two hour program, and in my opinion, it was not very pretty. Here are my favorite segment, worst segments and the "God Help Us All" segment.

The Good

TNA de-pushing Mr. Anderson. Thank the heavens for this! The man is about as far away from main event level as it comes. Ratings show that. House show numbers show that. PPV buys show that. Ignoring the business side of things, his TV character is just as bad. So bad it is not even funny. Let him wallow in the mid-card for awhile, get his persona down and then try another big run with him down the line. Right now? Keep eating those pin falls Kenny!

The Bad

PPV build. I would be shocked if most people even knew TNA had a pay-per-view this weekend. Angle/Sting. Gunner/RVD. Fortune/Immortal. Excuse me while I yawn for a second! It certainly does not help with Taz as your color guy in the broadcast booth. Him and Tenay just need to go away because nothing they say or do sells their product.

The Ugly

Sting as the Joker. I could have picked a number of topics for this one tonight, but Sting is just making a fool of himself. I wouldn't go as far as to say he is ruining his legacy...yet. If this terrible, cheap, rip-off, embarrassing gimmick continues for Sting, I really would start to feel bad for him.

All in all, it was the usual run of the mill TNA Impact show—some bright spots, but it is surrounded by so much garbage, it is hard to notice. Sad, yet expected.

On a final note, for a company that promotes "Wrestling Matters," can you someone do me a favor and tell me the last Impact show that started with a match? Thanks!
