Top 5 Overrated Fighters: Who Win Without Actually Ever Hitting a Single Person
It is probably impossible to ever actually go without ever hitting someone in the sport of mma. However, in lieu of the recent Sean Sherk vs. Tyson Griffin match I find it critical to point out the top 5 pieces of garbage in mma that have shown inaccuracies in striking.
5. Mark Kerr- Perhaps not as well known to mma fans just jumping into the sport, but Mark Kerr was once the number one rated fighter in the world. Possessing an enormous physique and a good wrestling pedigree, Kerr may have defeated more people with his enormous head and pointed chin than with his fists.
4. Dan Severn-This "Beast" was one of the most popular fighters back in the old days. Severn having the most career fights than any other fighter in mma may have also had the second longest fight in mma history when he fought Ken Shamrock back in UFC 9 for thirty minutes straight. Although to say that this was a fight is a joke because Severn's is a master of the ancient art of the napping bear. Back when there were no time limits and no decisions Severn did another first in mma history he actually had the fight go to a decision where he was declared the victor.
3. Jorge Patino A.K.A. Macaco A.K.A the guy Jose "Pele" Landis humped-Once considered a legend in the Brazilian Vale Tudo scene Macaco's stand up is some of the most horrendous in the sport of mma. Guaranteed to get out boxed by a fifth grader, Macaco who stands like a rock em' sock em' robot was knocked out in the now infamous fight were Pele humped is head back at the World Vale Tudo Championship 4.
2. Ken Shamrock- Saving the 1 and 2 spots for the men that the UFC was built upon. Ken Shamrock striking is almost as equally unimpressive as his record. Shamrock who believes he deserves respect cannot ever be respected when it comes to striking. Shamrock proved he can't even win a contest of shadowboxing against himself when he cut himself open right before his Kimbo Slice fight. The majority of his fights lost have come in striking exchanges whether he like to believe it or not, he has actually managed to convince himself that he was winning standing against the likes of Tito Ortiz, Kazushi Sakuraba and Don Frye.
1. Royce Gracie-It is hard to believe anyone is worst than Ken Shamrock at boxing, but if anyone is it would have to be Royce Gracie. When he isn't sticking his butt full of cow testerone Gracie can be seen being molested by almost every single person he has ever fought standing. Gracie who was phenomenal on the ground in his youth makes the likes of Matt Hughes look competent at striking. I heard a funny joke once "When is the last time you've heard of Royce Gracie winning a kickboxing match?" Actually that may have not been a joke? Anyways, never once have I ever seen Royce Gracie lace up a pair of boxing gloves in his training photos, always content to rely on his Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu he also lacks any real takedown abilities as well.
