WWE: My Friday Night Smackdown (August 5)

Nate ScacciaAug 5, 2011

Welcome to another edition of My Friday Night Smackdown. If you missed last week's article, here is a review of the show.

With Teddy long's absence from the show, William Regal was put in charge.

Jimmy Uso defeated Heath Slater in our opening match.

Natalya defeated Alicia Fox with a Sharpshooter and made her tap out.

The Miz asked William Regal for an easy opponent tonight. Regal agreed and gave him an "easy" opponent.

Ezekiel Jackson took on Ted DiBiase in a one-on-one contest. After weeks of stealing victories from Jackson, DiBiase finally met the Torture Rack and tapped out.

The Miz took on Booker T in an interesting matchup. After a good back and forth match, Miz rolled up Booker T and grabbed his tights for the victory.

In the main event, Sheamus and Drew McIntyre took on Christian and Randy Orton. After a nice long match, Christian and Orton seemed ready to lock up a victory but they collapsed as a team and began fighting with each other. McIntyre and Sheamus took advantage of this and stole a victory.

The Miz received another mystery note. It reads,

"

"Miz, congrats on your first victory in what seems like 15 years. Hell, 15 years ago I was tearing it up inside that ring. Miz, tonight you beat an old veteran in Booker T. But to be honest, Booker isn't exactly a spring chicken.

You should be able to beat an older superstar. I wonder if you can beat a young, up and coming superstar. Miz, I have talked with Teddy Long about your opponent next week.

But don't go asking Teddy what my name is because I used my code name of Mr.Wrestling."

"

On the back of the note are the letters "E.C.W."

Opening Segment

1 of 9

Teddy Long comes out and grabs a mic. he says that he had to take last week off for personal reasons, but he is back now.

Long says that, "There are only nine days left till SummerSlam, and we still do not have a No. 1 contender for the World Heavyweight Championship."

"So at this time, I would like to invite the World Heavyweight Champion Wade Barrett to come down to the ring."

Barrett comes out to nice heat and goes to the ring.

"Now Wade, I know of two men who have claims to be the No. 1 contender. I am going to invite them down right now. Christian and Randy Orton, come on out."

The two men come out and grab a mic. Each man claims he should be the contender and Long has a solution to settle the problem.

"Christian, Orton has on thing you don't have playa, a rematch clause. Orton, you will take on Wade Barrett at SummerSlam for the World Heavyweight Championship!"

Of course Christian is upset, but Long has an opponent for him. "OK, Christian, you want to get all excited and start talking about how good you are. Why don't you take on Sheamus tonight."

Long leaves, Christian yells at him while Orton and Barrett stare each other down as we head to commercial.

Backstage

4 of 9

The Miz is backstage in Teddy Long's office demanding to know who the mystery note writer is and who his opponent is. Long tells him that he has no idea who the note writer is, but he does know who his opponent is.

"Miz, You will find out who your opponent is soon enough, your match is next playa."

Miz leaves in a rage as we head to commercial.

Match 3: Miz vs. ?

5 of 9

The Miz is out first. Remember, he needs to win three matches before SummerSlam to find out who the note writer is.

He waits for his opponent and finds out that it is...Ezekiel Jackson.

Big Zeke makes his way to the ring and Miz has a look of, "You have got to be kidding me" on his face.

As soon as the bell rings Miz goes after Zeke. Jackson answers with a big clothesline and down goes the Miz. Jackson stomps on Miz until he kicks him out of the ring. Miz runs back into the ring only to be hit with another clothesline.

Jackson picks up the Miz and slams him once and then again. Jackson grabs the Miz and already goes for the Torture Rack. Cody Rhodes' music hits, and Jackson turns his attention to the ramp. Just like last week, Rhodes doesn't come out.

Miz takes advantage of the distraction and hits Jackson with a big kick to his face. Miz then hits a bulldog. Miz goes for the pin but Jackson kicks out. Jackson goes to the corner, and Miz goes for his signature clothesline.

Jackson meets Miz in the middle with a big boot. Jackson waits for Miz to get to his feet, but Rhodes' music goes off again. Jackson again turns his attention to the ramp, and Miz takes advantage by rolling up Jackson for the victory.

Miz runs out of the ring and Jackson looks angry. Jackson grabs a mic and says enough is enough and says that he is going to find Rhodes.

Jackson's Hunt for Rhodes

6 of 9

Jackson is running around backstage looking for Rhodes. He runs into Mark Henry who tells him he better watch where he is going next time.

Jackson responds to that with a big clothesline. Jackson continues his hunt when he stumbles upon Rosa Mendes and Justin Gabriel. He asks them where Rhodes is but they have no idea.

Eventually Jackson finds DiBiase at the end of the hallway and chases after him. Before Jackson goes around the corner he thinks that maybe there is a trap on the other side. Like a smart man, he lets Sheamus go around the corner first.

Rhodes, thinking Sheamus is Jackson, hits him with some kind of powder and then starts beating on him.

Rhodes and DiBiase realize that Sheamus isn't Jackson, but big Zeke settles the problem by clotheslining both of them. Sheamus comes around and both men beat up on Rhodes and DiBiase. Jackson slams Rhodes through a table while DiBiase meets a Brogue Kick.

We head to commercial.

The Miz

7 of 9

Miz walks past the broken table and goes into the men's bathroom. From outside we hear, "You have got to be kidding me!"

Of course, at just that time Rosa Mendes walks past and hears the Miz yelling. She thinks he is talking about something  "else" and runs off to tell her diva friends.

Miz comes out of the bathroom with another note. This one reads,

"Good job cheater, did you talk Rhodes into that or was it his idea? Well, only one more match to go and you can face me at SummerSlam.

"Don't blow it Miz, it would be a shame to waste all this TV time only for you to ruin it."

On the back of the note are the letters "W.C.W."

Main Event: Christian vs. Sheamus

8 of 9

Christian is out first to a mixed reaction.

Sheamus is out next to some good heat.

The match begins with a test of strength. Sheamus wins that and backs Christian into the corner where he connects with an elbow.

Sheamus goes for another elbow, but Christian gets out of the corner and lands a slap. Christian brings Sheamus out of the corner and hits an uppercut.

Christian throws Sheamus off the ropes and goes for a clothesline but Sheamus hits a shoulder block. Sheamus hits a clothesline of his own and goes for the pin. Christian kicks out at one.

Sheamus grabs Christian and goes for a suplex, but Christian grabs the ropes and hits a back breaker. Christian goes for the pin, but Sheamus kicks out at two.

Christian throws Sheamus into the corner and goes for a running shoulder but Sheamus moves and Christian goes shoulder first into the ring post.

Sheamus goes for a Brogue Kick off of the rebound, but Christian moves out of the way and Sheamus goes to the outside. Christian goes for a crossbody and hits the move.

The referee starts his ten count when Drew McIntyre walks down to the ring. He doesn't interfere, but Christian doesn't like his presence. Christian throws Sheamus into the ring and goes for the pin, but he kicks out at two. Skip Sheffield comes down to ringside from the crowd, and Christian is nervous.

Christian pays a little too much attention to the men as Sheamus hits a big clothesline. Wade Barrett comes out on the ramp next and watches the match. Sheamus has Christian in position for a Brogue Kick but once again Christian moves and hits a DDT.

At that time, Randy Orton comes out and starts attacking Wade Barrett. McIntyre and Sheffield take off after him, but he runs off.

Christian takes advantage of the distraction and hits Sheamus with a spear. Christian pins Sheamus for the victory.
