Acid Reflux and the day in the life of a sick person

I want things to be better

Some people know me as Sean Serritella. I have lupus, pulmonary hypertension and a brain injury. I also have this acid reflux which is causing me a lot of problems. I have a bad cough. So bad that at times I feel like I’m going to faint and there were times I did faint because I didn’t have enough oxygen. In a nut shell, acid reflux has fluid going into your throat which causes you to cough.

When I start coughing a lot, I feel like fainting so I hold on to something. Today, I was cooking Taylor Ham and I was going to put it on toast. I started coughing and I held onto the stove top fan to give me support so I wouldn’t faint.

The next thing I knew, I was on the ground not knowing who I was or where I was.

I finally woke up with a large lump on the back of my head and a very swollen elbow. My ribs are hurting a lot. I have marks every where.

I will not go to the emergency room however because the hospital is one big joke.

We’re living in the dark ages when it comes to medicine.

When I go to the emergency room, I usually have to wait 7 hours before I get a room. Once I get a room, I have to wait another 4 hours before I see a doctor. When the doctor finally arrives, he says that he doesn’t know what’s wrong but they are going to give me medicine anyway so they can charge me money.

Once you get out of the hospital, you realize what a waste of time they are. They don’t help you and all they do is make you wait. I’d rather die than wait at a hospital.

I’m home now with oxygen on my face and I’m feeling a little better. One reason I’m feeling better is knowing that I won’t have to go to a hospital.

Life is hard but you have to move on.
