Random Thoughts: Could WWE Have Pushed CM Punk's Angle Through Survivor Series
As we all know, Survivor Series has become the weakest of "The Big Four" pay-per-views.
Survivor Series was once referred to as "The Thanksgiving Tradition". In the beginning it was not used as a story-line ending pay-per-view, rather a continuation of existing feuds. Instead of singles matches, teams of heels and faces would team up taking on their respective enemies.
Now fast forward to 2011. The WWE is in the midst of the biggest story-line of the summer and then splat, no real pay-off. CM Punk wins the title and leaves the company with championship for one-week.

One-week, is barely enough time for the shock to wear off. Now, fans are witnessing a SummerSlam main-event featuring Punk vs Cena to crown the "undisputed" champion. To me, this storyline should have lasted several months leading into Survivor Series.
Here is how I envisioned it...
Punk leaves with the belt and heads to ROH, helping to push his good friend Colt Cabana. Punk will act as Cabana's mouthpiece and only wrestle as needed. During his time at ROH, he will continue to tout himself as WWE champion and bury Cena's title reign.
Then back at WWE, Cena and R-Truth will work a program culminating at Vengeance. After each Cena title victory Punk's Titan-tron would hit, building up Punk's return.
Following September's PPV offering Night of Champions, Punk will show up as RAW comes to a close with Cabana, Charlie Hass and Shelton Benjamin in tow.
In between, NoC and Vengeance, Hass and Benjamin will deliver a DVD to Triple H and demand it to be played during RAW, right before Vengeance. The DVD will feature Punk's promo's at ROH, burying both WWE and Cena.
After Vengeance, a fed-up Cena will call out Hass and Benjamin., However, Punk will answer the call, challenging Cena to a four-on-four at Survivor Series. With the winning team claiming their captain as the undisputed WWE champ.
To me this would help bring Survivor Series back to it's former glory and bring more hype to it than The Rock's return.
Don't get me wrong, the WWE has done wonders with their product for the past couple of months.
However, I do miss the long drawn out story-lines of yesteryear.
