Comparisions From Old Redskins To The New and Improved!!!!

Lets start with the offense shall we.

Doug Williams came in 1986 after stints with many teams and did ok in Tampa Bay low and behold he joined with Joe Gibbs a old Tampa Bay coach. William's didn't see lot of time his years in Washington until he helped us make the Playoffs and then to his MVP performance in Super Bowl XXII.  He became the first African American to win the Super Bowl and MVP in one game.

The comparison you guessed it Jason Campbell. Of course he wears number 17 like Williams but also was coached under Joe. Both were picked in the first round only 8 picks apart. Their weight is very close but Campbell wins the  height battle by 5 inches. Their colleges were in side by side states. Their playing styles are pretty close to being the same also. Does this mean JC will be as great no but it's a comparison.

Gary Clark would be next small fast and reliable. His numbers weren't jumping off the page but were steady and very good. He played with Art Monk and Sanders in The Posse. This may be the reason his numbers weren't as big as they could be.

Santana Moss quick agile and reliable when healthy. He like Clark plays with a Posse Cooley and Randle El aren't Monk and Sanders but play very well. Moss's numbers are pretty close to Clark's and Moss still hasn't had a break out year maybe 05 that's it. I compare these two because of their play and their attributes.

This is a real real stretch but i can't leave this kid out Clinton Portis. When we traded for him we thought we would get his Denver days we got a unexpected surprise. He had 1 good season with the Redskins so far and this year he might break all of his own records. He isn't a home run hitter like Peterson or a fighter like Marion the Barbarian. He is both he puts devastating blocks down and can hit the home run but his speed isn't as fast as Peterson.

Now to this far far comparison he is compared to Kelvin Bryant. He was drafted in the deeper rounds  but still had an effect on their Super Bowl win. His short career was ended by a injury and wasn't the same. He had some great numbers for a receiving running back.

In four seasons with the Redskins, Bryant compiled 1,186 rushing yards on 260 carries, a solid 4.6 yards-per-carry average. He logged six rushing touchdowns. Bryant was perhaps most effective as a pass receiver: he had 154 career receptions for 1,634 yards and 14 touchdowns catching passes out of the backfield. This was a far far comparison don't give me any troubles.

I don't see a  comparison with Cooley.

The Defense now.

We had great d ends but on this team we don't have a great d end.

The corner backs can never compare to Darrel Green but they are a good group when healthy.

London Fletcher leads are group every year since he was signed. He hasn't made a pro bowl yet but maybe this is his year. He leads in tackles or is close every year with the Redskins. Has been in the top ten in tackles also since being here.

Although Monte Coleman did not play in a Pro Bowl, as Fletcher also didn't his numbers are more than adequate. In his 16 years as a Redskin he garnered 43.5 sacks; 17 interceptions, 3 returned for touchdowns; and 999 tackles. He also has 4 career touchdowns and returned a fumble for a touchdown. He also played in 21 playoff games.

Horton and Landry are young but will be elite db's once they mature. Sean Taylor would have been on the next Redskin Greats  list but was gunned down.

Are defense doesn't have all stars we have a unit unlike the Giants (d line),Ravens (linebackers and db's), or Titans (a beast d line)we are a unit. There fore i don't have any other comparisons if you do please comment and I will edit and add them.
