Walker Cup 2011: Team Rosters and Preview of Walker Cup
Walker Cup 2011 Rosters and Preview
The 2011 Walker Cup features the top amateur golfers in the United States and the top amateurs in Great Britain and Ireland.
The Walker Cup is essentially an amateur version of the Ryder Cup between Europe and the United States.
The event takes place every two years and has occurred unofficially since 1921, when the event began at Royal Liverpool.
The event features a combination of foursomes and singles competitions, which is also very similar to the Ryder Cup.
In total, the United States leads overall by a score of 34-7, and there was one halved match back in 1965.
The 2011 event will be held at the Royal Aberdeen Golf Club in Scotland. The Royal Aberdeen is the sixth-oldest club in the world, as it was founded all the way back in 1815.
The complete rosters have not yet been announced for the event, but the United States has released the names of four players who will compete in the event.
