Houston Texans YMCA, a Place for Personal Development and Character-Building

The collaboration of the Houston Texans and the YMCA has produced a place for personal development and character-building in Houston, Texas.

It is a clever plan to promote community service in the greater Houston area. Other NFL teams should follow suit and set up collaborations with the NFL franchise based in their city.

Mr. Robert Anderson, who works at the Houston Texans YMCA, says:

"It's the first and only YMCA in the country named after a pro sports team."

If a person is interested in getting in shape so that they can be energetic for the 2011 football season, then the Houston Texans YMCA is a good place to start working out.

An impressive display on one of Texas' outstanding leaders, Mr. Quentin Mease, creates an atmosphere of respect for the heritage of the YMCA concept. Mr. Mease was a leader and administrator of the earlier version of the South Central YMCA, formerly located on Wheeler Avenue near Texas Southern University, in Houston, Texas.

The archives indicate there have been only three executive directors of this branch of the YMCA, and the current director is Ms. Priscilla Graham. 

The Houston Texans YMCA is a beautiful structure, located in an area called Palm Center, on Griggs Road and Martin Luther King Blvd. Often there are celebrity games, sports camps for youth, and cheerleader camps at the location.

Texan fans are more likely to see some of the current players at the location when the camps are in session. Otherwise, a participant might get lucky and end up working out next to a family member of the Houston Texans since those family members often visit the location.

It sounds like a good proposal for other NFL teams to consider a similar joint venture in their city.
