Last minute Pregame Notes for Kansas at Nebraska

With kickoff approaching in about 12 hours…

• This will be the first cold-weather game of the season for both teams. According to NTV, “the forecast calls for game-time temperatures in the low-40s and strong winds.”
• Huge props to Kansas student Bryan Wheeler of the University Daily Kansan for busting out this excellent statistical analysis. Wheeler points out, “In a span lasting more than three decades, legendary Nebraska coach Tom Osborne put a hurting on the Jayhawks year after year on his turf. In 12 trips to Lincoln, Kansas scored just 96 points. That’s three touchdowns more than Kansas scored against Nebraska in last year’s 76-39 blowout in Lawrence.” Wow.
• The Huskers are 4-2 at home this season
• Macon.com, our favorite random news source, says that, “Neither program possesses a defense worth mentioning and that should lead to a high scoring affair. Kansas appears to be a little more explosive than the Huskers and that should help it slip by on the road this weekend.” Predicted Outcome: Kansas 35, Nebraska 31
• Nebraska leads the overall series against Kansas 88-23-3
• Jim Dolezal of the Columbus Telegram, a self-described “Husker fanatic”, offers up this analysis, “Nebraska needs a great effort to defeat Kansas. The Jayhawks have a talented offense that can light up the scoreboard. Reesing is talented and knows how to win. I believe that Nebraska will get a spirited performance from the offense and make a play on special teams that will lead the Huskers to a 38-35 win over Kansas.”
• There are Two Huge Facts you must know about this game! First, Kansas kicked the living crap out of Nebraska last season in Lawrence 76-39. And second, Kansas hasn’t won in Nebraska since 1968.
