UFC's Top 5 Tweets of the Week

Back in May, Dana White made an announcement that would further differentiate him from the other major sports commissioners in the US.

Dana decided to offer fighters bonuses for tweeting.

The fighters under contract with UFC and Strikeforce would be divided into four different groups, based on the number of followers they already had.

At the end of each quarter, three fighters from each group would be chosen based on who gained the most followers, who has gained the highest percentage of new followers, and who wrote the most creative tweets, and each would earn $5,000.

Pretty nice incentive for writing clever 140 word posts.

So here at B/R, we're going to help out the fighters under ZUFFA, and post the top tweets of the week... Enjoy!

Note: I have only been on Twitter for a little over a month now, so if there was somebody who had a noteworthy tweet that I missed, I may not be following them yet. Feel free to let me know below in the comments section.

3. Pat Barry

Clearly, Pat Barry doesn't want any Heath Herring-Yoshihiro Nakao New Years nonsense.

2. Mayhem Miller

Maybe a little bit wrong, but I'll be damned if Mayhem isn't one of the funniest tweeters out there. He had a few other good ones this week, but you'll have to check out his twitter to see them.

1. Ariel Helwani

The tweet: Umm ... I may not be going to UFC 133 after all. Not a good day.

While Ariel Helwani may not technically be a part of the UFC, he certainly had one of the best tweets of the week.

It was a simple tweet, but it was the linked photo (seen to the left) that earns him the No. 1 spot this week.

At the time of publication, I'm still unsure if this was a gag or not...
