UFC News: Rashad Evans Says He Would "Love to Fight" Dan Henderson

Mike HodgesJun 7, 2018

After expressing interest in a return to the UFC following his victory over Fedor Emelianenko, it seems like Dan Henderson might not have to wait long for an opponent.

Rashad Evans recently told ESPN.com, courtesy of BloodyElbow.com, that he would be interested in welcoming Henderson back to the UFC.

"I would love to fight him. He's getting better and better -- not so much learning new techniques, but having a stronger competitive mentality," Evans said.

Evans will step back into the Octagon after a 14 month absence to face Tito Ortiz at UFC 133 this weekend. A win over Ortiz would likely setup a a title shot for Evans, who was originally scheduled to compete for the UFC light heavyweight title before injuring himself during a training session last year.

Henderson also said he wants to unify the Strikeforce Light Heavyweight title against the winner of Jon Jones and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson at UFC 135 in September.

A potential bout between Evans and Henderson is certainly not out of the question and could likely generate a lot of interest from both hardcore and casual fans. What makes the idea even more intriguing is that Henderson is currently a free agent.

However, considering Strikeforce's situation with their champions as of late, it would be a wise decision to try and retain Henderson's services with the company. Then again, Henderson's stock is at an all-time high and he is free to go where he wants. Henderson is arguably the hottest commodity in the sport right now and whoever is to acquire his services should do so while his name still holds value.
