Federal League's Rock Crushers Add Another Seven on Tryouts

Steve PopoloskiJun 7, 2018

Just three days after signing their first four players to tryout deals, the expansion Green Mountain Rock Crushers of the Federal Hockey League have added another seven to their training camp roster.

C Charles Bryan IV

Originally signed to a tryout with Danbury back on July 22nd, Bryan was Green Mountain's first acquisition after it's revival on July 23rd. Bryan was dealt to the Rock Crushers for future considerations.

According to Green Mountain's Facebook page, he also goes by Chad Bryan and was a member of the Elliot Lake Bobcats 2010/11 squad that won the Greater Metro "Junior A" Hockey League title this past spring. In the process, the 21-year old Bryan posted 32 goals and 32 assists in just 30 games, with 21 PIM.

G Jordan Neamonitis

The Quebec native saw 29 games with the Syracuse Stars of the OPJHL in 04/05 posting a 4.79 GAA in his most active season available. In 2006/07 he made what appears to be his lone NCAA appearance, surrendering 6 goals in two periods for the University of Wisconsin—Stevens Point.

According to Eliteprospects.com, Neamonitis attended the Utah Grizzlies training camp in 2007 and 2008, before resurfacing with the West Michigan Blizzard of the AAHL. There he appeared in three games, apparently all in relief, allowing 3 goals in 44 minutes of play for a 4.06 GAA.

Last season Neamonitis started one regular season game for the Chi-Town Shooters, backstopping the team to an 8-2 win over Lapeer.

According to a game recap, he also won game one of the Davidson Cup finals with Chi-Town 5-4, but did not start games two or three, which Chi-Town lost, giving the AAHL championship to Battle Creek.

D Kyle Gletow

The Franklin Lakes, New Jersey native split the 2008/09 AAHA season between Battle Creek, Chicago and Evansville, totaling 4 assists and 24 PIM in 28 games. While with Evansville, Gletow picked up two fighting majors, against Chris Mattey and Michael Jordan.

D Zach Galia

Galia completed his fourth year at DIII Adrian College this spring, playing in 27 games over that span. He tallied one goal and seven assists with 46 PIM. Galia appears to be a prototypical stay-at-home defenseman, registering a +18 during his time at Adrian.

Galia played his junior hockey for the Kanata Stallions of the CJHL.

F Justin Elmore

Elmore played 2 games in 2010/11 for Queen City in the AAHL, registering 2 PIM. Attended Chicago Blaze camp in 08/09 after receiving an invite from their free agent camp but did not see any regular season game time.

Elmore was one of the seven players originally invited to Rock Crushers camp from their own free agent camp back in June, before the team suspended operations.

F David Lynne

Lynne tallied 11 points in six games last season for the AAHL's Troy Bruins while adding 13 PIM. His one career fight was against Battle Creek's Nick Williams. Lynne also saw time with the Connecticut C-Dogs of the short-lived NEPHL, putting up 5 points in 9 games.

The Maine native was also on the original list of seven invites out of free agent camp this past June.

D Ryan Huggett

Huggett brings the most pro hockey experience to the table out of this group, having logged 87 professional games at the A and AA level since 2008/09. He played in parts of two seasons at DI UMass-Amherst, tallying 6 points and 27 PIM in 31 games. After just 6 games in 2008/09 with UMass, Huggett signed with Battle Creek of the AAHA, posting 13 points in 22 games, as well as an additional 4 in 7 playoff contests.

The following year Huggett saw time in 38 games with Evansville in the rechristened AAHL, Tallying eight points and 38 PIM while earning his first callup to AA, where he skated in two games with the Bloomington Prairie Thunder of the IHL. After being returned to Evansville he played in 9 playoff games, adding two assists and 14 PIM.

2010/11 brought Huggett back to Battle Creek, where he put up two goals and 11 assists, as well as 54 PIM in 16 games during what would be an abbreviated season. In five playoff games he added an assist and 16 PIM on the Revolution's way to the Davidson Cup.

With the AAHL season over in February, Huggett caught on with the Knoxville Ice Bears of the SPHL, where he played in nine games with an assist and four PIMs.

In his three seasons in the AAHA/AAHL, Huggett registered 8 regular season fighting majors, as well as an additional two in the playoffs.

Roundup

There are some interesting additions to the inaugural Rock Crushers roster. Huggett looks to be the biggest signing here with his pro experience and grit on the back end, and the additions of Galia and Gletow could be solid, at least adding defensive depth if nothing else.

Not much to go by regarding the forwards. With just eight games of professional experience maybe one of them is a diamond in the rough.

In net, Neamonitis has had quite a hockey journey, and judging by his two games with Chi-Town he can play "A" level pro hockey. But that's just two games and since we don't have any information on Chris Frasier/Frazier yet, a veteran goalie should be high on Green Mountains' shopping list.
