Tiger Woods Proclaims No Pain and Ready for Bridgestone Invitational

Kevin PahlauJun 6, 2018

Tiger Woods held a press conference this morning at Firestone Country Club and said he is feeling great and in no pain.

In the press conference, which was carried live by the Golf Channel, Woods offered answers to questions by reporters. Most questions centered around how he was feeling and his recent firing of longtime caddie, Steve Williams.

Woods arrived at Firestone early Tuesday morning to hit balls at the driving range and have a practice round at the famed south course.

During the press conference, Woods made few revelations about his recovery. He mentioned following his doctors' recommendations and that he wanted to return only when he felt he was 100 percent.

Woods did mention looking back, he probably should not have played in the Players Championship in May. Woods explained it wasn't until he played in May that it was realized his injuries were more serious.

Another piece of information Tiger revealed, was that Bryon Bell is not his permanent caddie. "Have you seen his legs?", Tiger asked, during one of the lighter moments of the press conference.

Tiger went on to explain that Bell will caddie for him this week at Bridgestone and hopefully next week during the PGA Championship. Beyond that, Woods seemed unsure.

Woods made it clear that he is looking for a caddie who has experience on the PGA tour. He referenced both Fluff and Williams and the history they had before joining Woods.

Tiger did not have any negative things to say about Steve Williams. He confirmed that he and Williams talked face to face at the AT&T when he told Williams he was going to let him go. He mentioned it was a difficult conversation, but Woods did not elaborate on what was said.

Williams has made his feelings public after being fired from Woods. Williams mentioned he felt like he lost the last two years of his life. "That's the way he feels", responded Woods after being questioned today about Williams' statements.

Williams is now caddying for Adam Scott and both will be at Firestone this week.

With Tiger Woods back and one of the most competitive fields of any tournament, this week will indeed prove to be interesting.
