Kyle Orton Trade Speculation: 5 Teams That Should Make a Play

Michael KimbleJun 4, 2018

Kyle Orton may not put up the biggest numbers, but he is an efficient quarterback who doesn't make alot of mistakes. Despite the fact that he seems to be stuck in Denver at this point, there are a few teams that could certainly use his services. This article looks at the 5 teams that should take a chance on him.

5. Oakland Raiders

1 of 5

After losing Bruce Gradkowski, the Raiders could certainly use Orton. Even though Orton may be going in as a backup, he could certainly compete with Jason Campbell for the starting job. This may not be the ideal spot for Orton, but it is certainly a spot where he would have a chance to succeed.

4. Seattle Seahawks

2 of 5

Tarvaris Jackson is now considered the starter in Seattle, but in his career, Jackson has been average at best, not being able to hold a starting job against the likes of Gus Frerotte or Joe Webb. Orton would be a much better choice for Seattle, as he has a much better arm and makes better decisions.

3. San Francisco 49ers

3 of 5

Ever since he was drafted with the first pick in 2005, Alex Smith has been a disappointment. However, he has been given countless chances to succeed in San Francisco. The 49ers would be smart to obtain Orton, as he has a chance to succeed in an offense with much promise, with players like Frank Gore, Michael Crabtree, and Vernon Davis.

2. Miami Dolphins

4 of 5

Although the Broncos may have been asking too much for Orton, the Dolphins should consider giving the Broncos what they are asking. Orton is certainly a step up from their starter, Chad Henne, and can succeed in the offense, who recently acquired Reggie Bush, and already has one of the best receivers in the league in Brandon Marshall.

1. Washington Redskins

5 of 5

If the Redskins go with John Beck this year, they are in for a long season. Orton would obviously be a step up from the 3rd string quarterback with little experience, and he might even give the Redskins a chance to compete. If Beck is starting for the Redskins, Washington will have the worst quarterback situation in the league, and may need to call Denver early in the season to acquire Orton.
