5 Potential Feuds for the Returning Chris Jericho

Jon FisherJun 1, 2018

Chris Jericho is the best in the world at what he does.  Let's go back to September 27, 2010, a match between Y2J and Randy Orton.  He was not in a feud at the time, recently following a loss in a Six-Pack Challenge match for the WWE championship.

Jericho was eliminated, which meant his last title hunt for the company.  Word spread about Jericho's contract and if he was going to sign.  It was all up to Johnny Ace to sign Chris.

Alas, he failed to do so. I certainly was surprised.

September 27 would be Y2J's last appearance in a WWE ring to this day.  Not long into the match, Sheamus interfered, and it ended in a no contest.  Orton was in the middle of his face/tweener turn while Jericho was the full-fledged heel.

Randy punts skulls, good or bad.

The injury storyline only meant the end for Y2J.  He had plans to be in the next season of Dancing with the Stars and also had commitments to his band Fozzy.  For those who don't know, Christopher Irvine is the lead singer of the rock band, Fozzy.

It has been 10 months since Jericho graced a wrestling ring.  Vince McMahon claims there is a contract on his desk and he is waiting for Chris to sign it.  This has happened before in WWE, and honestly, I'm skeptical.

Jon Fisher is here to do one thing and one thing only: wait for Y2J's return.  This can only mean one thing: potential feuds.

Who will Chris Jericho feud with upon his long-awaited return to McMahon's camp?  Here is a list of five men to feud with, and this is solely based on opinions and logic.

As Dana White would say, here we go.

Kofi Kingston

1 of 6

The first feud I speculated about is with Kofi Kingston.  Remember when Kofi won the Intercontinental title off of Jericho?  I wonder how many of you actually do.

These two actually put on a great match.  Kofi's high-flying style added to Jericho's all-around wrestling game provided with some compelling stuff.  WWE creative failed to add on after the match in which it seemed Jericho forgot about it.

Shawn Michaels helped Kofi win the title with outside interference, and that led to the infamous HBK vs Y2J feud, with Michael's head going through the Jeri-tron.  One eye injury here and a punch to his wife there, this feud fits in the "Reality Era" to be quite honest.

Kingston and Jericho could put on great matches, but mic work from Kingston is a stretch.  Once Y2J returns, he will most likely be a face, considering almost everyone enjoys his work.  A Kofi heel turn?  Sounds like a plan.  Make it happen, Vinny!

The Miz

2 of 6

The most must-see WWE Champion of all-time vs. the IWC darling would make great TV.  Everyone knows that and isn't afraid to proclaim it.  Mic skills would be top notch from both parties, and wrestling Y2J could really help with Miz's confidence inside the ring.

No way am I bashing the Miz, because he has taken major strides in this business, but when you are facing one of the WWE's best, it tends to boost your skills and confidence.  Remember, these two were tag-team champions, and successful ones at that.

Just picture it: Jericho returning and frustrated Miz didn't come to his aide.  Miz will come out as the heel and proclaim how much he has gotten better and now he is the most must-see...well, I won't finish that.

If this doesn't sound like gold to you, I ask this: Really?...Really?...........Really?

Daniel Bryan

3 of 6

One of Jericho's best qualities is his mic ability and natural charisma.  I might add, he is a pretty decent wrestler as well.  Daniel Bryan is not known for his mic ability and charisma, but he is known for his wrestling ability and submission tactics.

The WWE Universe, especially the IWC, have been 50-50 on Bryan as a WWE superstar.  Like I specified earlier with the Miz, feuding with Bryan can only help his game.  We've seen Y2J feud with plenty of legend and Hall of Famers, but how many have had the wrestling ability as exceptional as Bryan's?

If WWE brass are willing to give Jericho a title run, why not feud with the Money in the Bank winner?  Come Jericho's return, I expect Bryan to be World Heavyweight champion.  Whether it is WM28 or the Royal Rumble, the American Dragon's mic ability could have improved.

I'm no nerd, but I would enjoy that program.

CM Punk

4 of 6

Be critical if need be.  A feud with the newest megastar CM Punk could captivate audiences all over the WWE Universe.  According to some fans, this has been the most compelling mic work since Y2J left the company.

Both have had a reputation for running their mouths and being able to back it up.  Well, why not have two "pipe-bombs" in the ring simultaneously.  Not to mention Punk's wrestling ability being very high, they both have similar styles.

A mix of high-flying and pure wrestling is the perfect formula for a good match.  Jericho and Punk are both over with the fans and have the ability to put on a great feud without a championship belt attached.  Curiosity set in as soon as I thought of this feud, because neither has worked with each other, at least for a long period of time.

5-star matches and 5-star promos makes for great TV.  Too bad WWE didn't think of this feud before.

Randy Orton

5 of 6

Let me take you back to the first slide.  Randy Orton punted Chris Jericho in the skull on September 27, 2010, which led to his write off on WWE programming.  Jericho and Orton initially feuded when he made his return to Raw in 2007.

After a failed attempt to save the WWE Universe from the Age of Orton, Jericho came back to be the "second coming" and put them out of their misery.  A long and durable feud passed by with awe-inspiring matches and teeth-gritting promos, but left Jericho without a WWE championship.

Don't forget, Orton punted another superstar in the skull in order to write him off TV, HBK Shawn Michaels.  On an episode of Raw that I will never forget, HBK made his triumphant return to WWE TV and feuded with the Viper for at least two months.

If consistency serves, when and if Jericho returns, it will most likely be with Randy.  The only way it will not happen, is if creative needs to wait until Orton reverts back to his heel-like ways, because as I mentioned earlier, Y2J will be a face.  Most of the IWC understands that a return feud with Chris Jericho cannot involve a boring and monotone Randy Orton.

Conclusion

6 of 6

Well, there you have it.  Chris Jericho is a wanted man by the WWE fans, and they have been patiently waiting since his departure on September 27, 2010.

It has been said by Jericho himself that if he comes back, it will be as a new character.  He will not be the best in the world at what he does.  He won't be the ayatollah of rock n rolla.  He will be Chris Jericho.

I want to hear your opinions and potential feuds, Bleacherholics.  Please comment below, and if you happen to enjoy this slideshow, give me the props down below these words.

Kingston, Miz, Bryan, Punk and Orton.  Who else?

That's right.  I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
