Braylon Edwards: Why the Arizona Cardinals Should Spend Their Money Elsewhere

The Arizona Cardinals are reportedly being linked to wide receiver Braylon Edwards.

Two of the teams’ best players, Larry Fitzgerald and Kerry Rhodes, have stepped up to the front office and expressed their desire to land the former Jet and current unrestricted free agent.

The Cardinals are desperate to land a new No. 2 receiver after the departure of Anquan Boldin before the start of last season.

The team went ahead with Larry Fitzgerald and Steve Breaston as their two starters this season.

The Cards also may not realize the magnitude of losing Kurt Warner. Larry Fitzgerald and any No. 2 or 3 scrub wide receiver could be a successful tandem in Arizona.

Having Derek Anderson, John Skelton, and Max Hall throwing the rock at your receiving corps is not going to result in success.

The team addressed this issue by trading their best corner for an unproven (but already much better than any of the three chumps listed above) quarterback in Kevin Kolb.

They must not overreact and try to splurge on a money seeking wide receiver that wants to be a No.1 option.

The team has perhaps the best wide receiver on earth already on their roster and can use their extra funds to upgrade other need positions.

If the team continues to play the 3-4 defense, they really need to add pass rushers. The Cards are lacking in almost every position that rushes the QB and the money that would be used on Braylon would be better spent there.

A second highly paid wide receiver would be a luxury on a team that has so many other needs.

Braylon is not even good enough to warrant the money he is asking for, has had off the field issues and is even known for making bone-headed drops on the field.

The Cardinals simply have too many other holes to fill on their roster and spending big money on Braylon Edwards is not the right call at the moment.
