Who Remains Indestructible?: TNA Turning Point Preview

Ron JohnsonNov 7, 2008

Well, folks. It's time. After a month of pointing fingers and going off about respect, it's time for TNA to once again Cross The Line once again on pay per view. After the last few weeks, something has to give, and this Sunday, two men are expecting something big to happen at the end of the night.

With that, here's a quick look at this Sunday's Turning Point.

X Division Rankings Matches

Every year, TNA Management throws a match out there and tosses in several of the biggest and best superstars in the X Division. This year will be no different as all the X Division stars of TNA will lock horns to determine the new rankings of the X Division. Superstars from Black Machismo Jay Lethal to Consequences Creed to Sonjay Dutt will compete for the right to be ranked higher than the others with a possible shot at X Division Champion Sheik Abdul Bashir at a later time.

With so much on the line, who will step up and lay claim to the top spot in the X Division and challenge The Sheik for the X Division Championship?

Sheik Abdul Bashir vs. Rhyno

It is a battle that got started at the most opportune of times. Following a successful title defense against Consequences Creed a few weeks ago, the Sheik was on his way to the back when he confronted Lauren who was in the back interviewing Rhyno. After Rhyno issued a stern warning to the X Division Champion, Bashir attacked him from behind and threw a warning of his own.

Now at Turning Point, the battle lines have been drawn between real America and Bashir's version of America. Will Rhyno finally silence the big mouth of the Sheik? Or will Bashir prove once more that his America is better than our America?

Knockouts Tag Team Match

The Monsters of the Knockouts vs. The Queens of the Knockouts

Kong is Knockouts Champion once again, and no one is safe. Now she's looking to eliminate who she believes are the two biggest threats to her reign as champion. With Raisha Saeed and now Rhaka Khan by her side, the three colossus women will face The Queens of The Knockouts.

Even if she has to be brought down on a gurney, The Voodoo Queen Roxxi will make it to Turning Point to team with The Upset Queen Taylor Wilde to take on Kong and Saeed. But don't be surprised if Khan makes an appearance with her new friends. Will the Queens get a measure of revenge against the three women who have been flat out headaches? Or will Godzilla Khan, Awesome Kong and Raisha continue dominating the Knockouts Division?

TNA World Tag Team Championships

Beer Money vs. The Motor City Machine Guns

In the midst of this battle between the veterans and the young guns, the MC Guns have earned their shot at the TNA Tag Titles. After deciding to side with the Young Lions Club, they made this match a little more personal after fighting it out with BMI this past Thursday. Since acquiring the gold from LAX several months ago, Beer Money has been on a rampage.

Storm and Roode have shocked everyone non stop by beating every single tag team in TNA, including the most decorated tag team, Team 3D. But now they have to face a team that they've never squared off against in the ring. Being one of the most successful tag teams in TNA does come with a price. The question is which successful tag team walks out of Turning Point hoisting the gold above their heads?

Kurt Angle vs. "The Monster" Abyss

No one knows exactly what the meaning of this match is, but no one is complaining either. Instead of getting his rematch with Jeff Jarrett, Kurt Angle has to lock horns with a man who he assaulted during his protest of Jarrett's decision not to face him in another match.

Abyss is on top of the world after scaling the ladder and retrieving the contract that guarantees he and his partner a tag title match at a later time. But since coming out of the Asylum, The Monster has been conflicted between his hardcore side and his new side. But it all comes ahead this Sunday as The Monster faces The Olympic Champion.

TNA Legends Championship

Booker T vs. Christian Cage (if Cage loses, he must join MEM)

This war started long before the Main Event Mafia and Young Lions Club came to fruition. Christian Cage has been pressured to choose a side since the battle lines were starting to be drawn. But his most pushed oppressor was Booker T. In Vegas, Booker T took it a step further.

After unveiling the Legends Championship he created for himself, Booker was approached by Cage for the right to hoist that championship. At Turning Point, Cage and Booker will lock up with a stipulation added by Booker himself: If Christian doesn't win the Legends Championship, he will have to join the Main Event Mafia next week on IMPACT! Can Cage silence the African King and take the gold back to the Young Lions? Or will the King add another member to the Mafia?

Double Main Event

Samoa Joe vs. Kevin Nash

After Nash cost Joe the TNA World Championship last month, the two have been on a rampage that will culminate this Sunday at Turning Point. But there were still questions that needed answers. Big Sexy explained that it was Scott Hall that chose not to come to their match last year. He said that Hall made it clear that Joe wasn't worth the sweat on his boots. This is where the war started according to Nash.

Joe made it clear that it's nothing more than jealousy between the veterans and the young guns. But when the smoke clears on Sunday, will it be the Samoan Submission Machine or Big Sexy that will have the last laugh?

TNA World Heavyweight Championship

"The Icon" Sting vs. "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles

The battle lines are drawn, and it all ends with this match. The winner and champion of this bout will definitely earn the advantage for their respective organization. But this is not just about championships. This is personal. Thanks to Sting's tirades about respect, and his insults pointed towards his family, Styles has retaliated by slapping and spitting The Icon.

Now at Turning Point, Styles has a chance to regain a championship that he hasn't held since the beginning of TNA. Styles has a chance to show the veterans some respect of his own. But above all else, he has a chance to whack the Main Event Mafia right out of the top spots of TNA. But will Sting continue his reign of terror on the Young Lions Club at Styles' expense? And who will do their part in the outcome of arguably the biggest TNA World Championship Match of the year?

This Sunday, it's time to find out who will become and remain indestructible? Special thanks to Disturbed for provided the official theme song of Turning Point as well as the title of this quick preview.
