The Wizards Need A Miracle

Generating a new belief of luck in the hearts of their desperate fans as a sign of a record setting season, the NBA Washington Wizards hosted the ’08-‘09 season opening game against the New Jersey Nets. Their pleasant dreams of victory turned to loosing nightmares when Washington showed too much hospitality, giving homes special game away to their New Jersey guests.
As a district resident I would love to be the optimists and cheer the Wizards on to the Eastern Conference Semi Finals, but I must be a realist and deal with truth of a challenging matter. In my opinion, the most Wizards fans can hope for this season is a lot of fun and the successful execution of some good plays against some the NBA’s pillar teams.

Making it only to the first round of last seasons Eastern Conference Semi Finals, loosing to the mighty King James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, and this preseason played showing limited promise capturing only two wins, I can only wonder if the three recovering wise men of Washington possess the power to successfully lead the Wizards to the Eastern Conference Semi Finals again. When you look at the Eastern Conference team stats this season, the Boston Celtics and Detroit Pistons have already taken off, with the Atlanta Hawks currently leading the South East. Washington has already made a dominant presence in the bottom of the South Eastern Division with a zero to three start.

Team leaders Antwan Jamison (knee), Gilbert Arenas (knee) and Brendan Haywood (wrist) are improving from injuries, Juan Dixon has returned home to Washington and the waived DeMarr Johnson, Linton Johnson and Taj McCullough have all moved on. So in the midst of what seems like clouded confusion, one must question who or where the silver lining of victory is.

 Coach Eddie Jordan could have a few winning plays up his sleeve and Andray Blatche, Caron Butler, Deshawn Stevenson and Antonio Daniels may put up a fight worthy to be praised but truth be told, even the miracle of a wizard needs a hand.
