Federal Hockey League: Green Mountain Rock Crushers Sign First Four to Tryouts
Recently brought back from the grave, the Green Mountain (VT) Rock Crushers have announced their first wave of signings, inviting four players to training camp—two of whom earned their invites through the team's free-agent camp.
Below are snapshots of each player, compiled with the help of hockeydb.com, eurohockey.net and hockeyfights.com (where applicable).
F Konstantin Kalmikov
The 33-year-old Ukrainian winger, easily the biggest signing here, spent the last three years with the Hull Stingrays (EIHL), totaling 146 points in that span.
His pro career dates back to 1995/96, and Kalmikov has seen time in the AHL, IHL, ECHL, UHL, CoHL, SPHL, OHL and Italy.
The Maple Leafs third-round pick in 1996 has totaled 441 points and 187 PIM in 756 career pro games.
F Shea Carey
The Illinois native played two years of junior in the OPJHL and OJHL and had two separate cups of coffee in the AAHL in 2009/10 and 2010/11 with Chi-Town/Indiana.
He has seven points and four PIM in 18 career AAHL games.
F Jason O'Bannon
The Ohio native played two years at Kent State in 2006/07 and 2008/09, racking up 126 points and 103 PIM.
He suited up in four games for the Chicago Blaze of the AAHL in 2009/10, registering three assists and no PIM.
He also was part of the 2009 U.S. squad at the Winter World University Games, helping America finish seventh in the tournament.
His college numbers suggest he could be something to watch.
G Chris Frasier/Frazier
Nothing.
It would help if we knew how his last name was spelled (Frazier in the release, Frasier on the wire) but Google searches for either come up with nothing.
