NFL Free Agency: New England Patriots Release Ty Warren

Tony SantorsaJun 4, 2018

Just a day after the New England Patriots traded for defensive linemen Albert Haynesworth, the Patriots released defensive linemen Ty Warren, according to ESPN Boston

This is a rather shocking transaction by New England.

Warren was set to return after a year spent on injured reserve but was expected to be an integral part of New England's defense.

Not only does it appear that Warren was a victim of the Haynesworth trade, but so was fellow defensive linemen Marcus Stroud, who was signed by Patriots prior to the lockout in March.

As of right now, New England's projected starting defensive line will be Vince Wilfork at nose-guard with Albert Haynesworth as one of the team's defensive ends with possibly Ron Brace and Mike Wright rotating in and out at the other end position.

Warren and Stroud are among outside linebacker Tully Banta-Cain, tight end Alge Crumpler, cornerback Tony Carter and offense tackle Nick Kaczur to be cut by the Patriots Friday.
